| Quote ="markrammond"I travel to every game, home and away, over 6500 miles a year to see my team. Many teams selfishly host the fixture on a Friday night, charge nearly £20 for a crumbling terrace, offer no adequate facilities for a beer and nothing after the match. I would say that £25 for a seat to watch two top level Rugby games, a live band, a good seat and decent people is a fair deal. Personally speaking you go to London and you pay London prices. A lot of floating away supporters have turned their back to go to France whereby £10 will not even get you two beers. These same whingers will then slag Quins off for low crowds. It is five years since Sts took a big mob to our ground. I wouldn't like us to alienate either of the Hulls or Wigan as they bring 1000. But why should we let people pick and choose on a Rugby United day. Do these people write to Murrayfield asking for a special exemption? No, so pay up or stay in the Black Bull and enjoy the warm feeling of saving your tenner. Great supporters, only 5 times a year is it hard to get to the game and you don't bother. The ground will fill and better it be League than Union, but I don't care just don't hassle the club for your petty narrow minded selfish interests'"
I dont believe that to be true but its pretty ironic given the most you ever brought to our place was about 40 in the play offs. That is probably a generous estimate as well.

Since you don't tell us, I'll have to assume that "our place" is Knowsley Road. If so, I was one of the "40" and your estimate is far from generous. Get your basic facts right before you post on here again please.

Faire enough. Over here the NRL do it with their "double headers".
They are also known to inflate their attendance figures anyway.

As a season ticket holder i have already paid for my RL seat and i'm getting to see a Union game which would have cost me £25 for free !!!
I am being rewarded for my loyalty to the club - i can't see this as a negative in any way.
I'm going to Bradford tonight and if it is raining i will probably get a seat in the stands and will be looking at paying £25 for the privelidge. Odsal is not a patch on The Stoop for facilities, but that does not change the price of the seat. I fully agree with everything markrammond has said.

How can they do that? If RU fans decide to stay and watch to see if they like league who would not have normally come would that count? If union fans stay for 10 minutes and leave due to not liking the product does that count? How can you possibly calculate any stats from the day?

As a season ticket holder this issue doesn't affect me, but that's exactly what most non-ST holders will do; except they won't bother commenting about it on here, their support will just be lost, for this game and possibly further games as a result. It looks like there will be no pay on the day tickets available, even to people willing to pay £25. And as usual the "elite hard core" supporters on here just look down and sneer at anyone who refuses to blindly pay whatever they're asked. As if the club can afford to lose any more support.

| Just out of interest, have seats for the Union game been kept back for League ST holders? I assume they must have been, or else the ground could be over capacity?

League Season Ticket holders (X) have been allocated seats in the South Stand. They just have to be claimed. Therefore there are X number of seats accounted for.

Our STHs had to exchange the relevant voucher for a match ticket in advance. The email I received from the club is quoted verbatim below:
[i"Saturday 10th April sees Harlequins RL take on St Helens; KO 6pm in the Super League. Harlequins RU have also now re-arranged their match against Leeds Carnegie and so the day is now a very exciting ‘Rugby United’ double header and is an excellent example of how both Clubs are working in partnership. The day kicks off at 2pm and your Bronze Season Ticket is valid for both matches.
However there are a few changes to the seating arrangements for the two matches: -
· =#FF0000The seating arrangements for both games will be reserved seating and therefore you will require an allocated seat for either match.
· You will be able to sit in any of the stands but not in the middle three blocks of the LV= or Etihad Stands.
· You will be offered the opportunity to reserve your seats before the remainder of the tickets go on general sale
What do I need to do if you want to attend both matches?
You will need to exchange Voucher Number 6 in your Season Ticket booklet for a match ticket. This can be done in various ways: -
· Come down to the Stoop during normal office hours to exchange your voucher (Mon & Fri 9-4.30; Tues, Wed & Thurs 10-4.30)
· Come along to the Salford City Reds match (14th March) or the Huddersfield Giants match (20th March) and exchange at the Ticket Office on match day
· Send in your voucher along with a covering note to The Ticket Office, Harlequins, Twickenham Stoop Stadium, Langhorn Drive, Twickenham, Middlesex TW2 7SX
We appreciate that you and a group of friends may normally sit together at games, so to ensure that you can still do for this game, please co-ordinate your ticket order.
Don’t forget it will not cost you any more money to watch both matches so why not take up this opportunity?"[/i

Yes and what are the basic facts ? It was bigger than the usual dozen but hardly massive. The point stands its a bit rich criticising Saints away support which has always been significant at London.

Oh...I don't know. Maybe if we are on an average of 3,000 at the end of the season it will prove usefull to add the 14.5k for this game, bumping it up to 4k+.......therefore showing that crowds are on the up and everything is rosey at TW2.
I have no issue with clever use of stats to win an arguement, but this is just blatant and will fool nobody. IF Salford get kicked out of SL come licence allocation time and the RFL mention the improved gates at Quins as a reason for keeping us in SL....will you sleep easy?
The official gate at the Huddersfield game in 2006 was 12,301........yeah right

This is my position exactly, a non ST holder who at the moment prefers to pay on the day. I have made my comments previously within this particular thread and yes POD the impression I have got from the "regular hard core" is just that - If you don't like it don't come.
Having attended at least 75% of all home games over the last 4 seasons I consider myself "hard core" (work or family commitments have prevented me from attending the other 25%). I have also stated previously that my intentions for this season were to purchase a season ticket but the recession dictated otherwise, I am self employed and the recession has hit me hard financially - and yes the £10 "surcharge" being levied is a major factor (it's £10 from the following weeks rent money and I could be working a full week that week or just a few days)
Having been lucky enough to win the best seats in the house competition earlier this month I did enquire about purchasing a Summer season ticket this year (they will be offered again this season) at that game and nearly had my hand bitten off! With the current fiasco surrounding this so called Rugby United fixture I am now seriously reconsidering even doing that!!! If as you say there will be no walk up tickets available for just the RL game (as also stated previously I hate the Union game with a passion) then I for one will not be there and I am now of the attitude that why should I bother even attending the rest of the season if this is how the club decide to treat supporters.
It seems that the club will be happy to carry on regardless, relying on it's elite band of hard core supporters for this and future seasons and not giving a damn about the rest. It also appears that the club and some of the so called hard core supporters have ignored the fact that the game of Rugby League was founded partly because of elitism !!!!!
