Quote Riverside Red="Riverside Red"The failed brand is a Super League Club in London, regardless of name, owners or ground.
The sport is alive and well at a grassroots level, but the majority of those playing it are not interested in watching it, especially the kids.
It has been very noticeable, the number of kids that were involved in the match day events, heading away from the Stoop rather than into it as kickoff approaches, despite having free tickets, and those that do stay bale out before the end of the game.'"
I think your first statement is far sweeping about failed brands in the heartlands of the game for a lot longer period clubs did not attract large crowds, Huddersfield in such a Large Stadium often only used to get average of 5,000? then St Helens this last season having to move down the road to Widnes a few miles suffered such a big drop in their attendances.
Yes I accept we have a problem, the grassroots game as you state is more healthy in the South than many areas of the North, but we do not seem to be able to attract the players, but you have to understand the area size of London and the clubs are spread not all based in Twickenham. Kids are a problem that they do not stay and their parents we know that.
But the game has worked in London we have had attendances in the past which at least were equal to many Northern clubs, we need to get the success on the pitch and the marketing completely right, also the are of the ground with good travel connections has to be so right.
