...that'll be the promotional work that was mentioned in the cowgirls blurb at the start of the recruitment process. Now, if they could just use them a little closer to TW2.......

1649_1338292262.jpg I have followed the LONDON CLUB since I was in my teensl even though born in St Helens and still live nearby and went to the first game at Fulham, also Big West Ham Supporter:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1649.jpg |

| Quote: gutterfax "The Bit in Red is on of the more assumptive claims you have come up with recently......firstly, if they watch the game on TV they Know who we are and what we play, next up, Union is not the MASSIVE beast I sometimes wind northerners up about.....Twickenham is a leafy suburb to most people that happens to have a large stadium where England play Union in front of crowds that do not reflect the unpopularity of its club games. Futhermore, Your use of RR cars, Picnic baskets and Etonian Cameron point to where this "idea" really comes from. Not all wealthy people who come from old money are s......same way northerners aren't wife beating ex-miners with whippets!
As for the Re-brand......it was always doomed to failure.....as a matter of courtesy I said I would reserve my judgement until after the Castleford home game.......but I saw it was bollox back in October and I have seen nothing at all to make me change my thoughts on that. Being the Broncos has not brought 1 benefit I can see........feel free to let me know where I am wrong. Yes, a winning team would be handy, but my first game as a fan was a loss.....I still came back for more......from 4,900 to 1,900, games 1&2 as Broncos at the stoop this year, is shocking.....truly shocking!
Cool story bro, but where's the evidence that the landlords would WANT to reduce their income by getting rid of us? YES.....when we were Quins RL it was very annoying that a lot of the "joint venture" stuff never happened, but since the first 3 yrs were up, we became tenants.....I expect my tenants to pay their rent, maintain my properties and that's pretty much it........what EXACTLY is it you expect from Harlequins RFC other than what we are paying for......?
Cool story II bro.....but your feeling that we can't build a fan base in Twickenham is actually a flawed assumption......if the club actually tried, then yes, I might say after 6 years it's maybe time up sticks, but they have done little or nothing in the area...ask Darth....he's a journo in the area........they are shocking in their total lack of activity on that front.....
Cool Story III bro.....I wish I'd pick 6 + the bonus ball, but I still reside in the REAL WORLD! I buy shirts (when they make it possible to do some from outside the UK), but it is not my JOB to turn this around.
I never said we didn't have options.....I just said your BLIND EAST IS THE BEST WAY mantra was flawed, because there was no proof that it was, nor that West had even been tried properly.
I see Wakefield have managed to shake us and Widnes off.....looking like June 9th is the decider for the wooden spoon.......'"
Gutterfax Anyone who has a "personal opinion" can be accused of being assumptive! it is being able to Accept others can have opinions.
Did I ever state that that rich people are s? many of my personal friends are most successful and come from a privileged background but they are also genuine, why people have to use boxes is beyond me for identifying different groups, but sadly that is the way many do perceive those who attend Twickenham and that is not just assumption, I was born in a two up, two down terraced house, but I never let it hold me back.
Again I have always clearly stated that any re-brand and re-launch has to be the Complete Package otherwise it is pointless! I still feel we needed the name change, but the rest of the package re-launch has been so week, I would love to see were the support the RFL are giving has gone.
Quins RU I did expect more and especially when we adopted the name, which I supported as I felt it would bring benefits, but we were still the poor cousins and now the poor tenants, I did feel that their name would have assisted with sponsorship when you look at the major brands they enjoy, but that goes back to the
presumptive Up Market image of Union, not the product at times which can be a bore!
I live in the real world and for 30 odd years have done as much as I can, many players shirts sponsorships, match balls, academy sponsorship and support as well as buying like you merchandise, I also have done as much with my media contacts to promote our club and the game in London, but that is what you do as a loyal supporter!
Well I disagree and it is my personal opinion the west has been tried and the last few years is proof it has failed, sadly now any investment in marketing with the state of the club and on field performances is a Total Waste of Money! to Market you need the right Product and ours is not right. East us flawed is your opinion and I respect it but again I disagree! I feel it is more of an area that we could develop in and a lot of money has been pumped into the amateur game and youth development there, that is my opinion!
I sat on many management boards and we had some strong discussions and most of the time our product was spot on, but I can assure you we walked out of those board rooms as mates and friends and worked together to ensure we always got it right, even if the choice was not always our own, if London is going to Survive and that is the stage we are getting to we need to work together, its no use having different camps, we may not agree all the time but we should on that it will be sad and disappointing if a London Super League club is allowed to fail.

Now lets be totally Honest Darthchris, are we talking just about the Premiership clubs in union then? because I know many union clubs like Orrell RUFC who used to get fair gates but now because they are out of the big time they get an hundred or so, so lets not paint that everything is rosey in the garden, even some of the Premiership Clubs only get the same as the likes of Salford, Castleford and Wakefield.
Of course I will not deny that union at the top is better run than RL is, but it is only a couple of years since Will Carling made the classic quote ""If the game is run properly as a professional game, you do not need 57 old farts running rugby." As a member of Orrell RUFC in their glory days I used to get a couple of England international tickets regularly in the draw that union clubs tend to hold for members, as tickets for Twickers are like pure gold! why/ when it is often so boring.
Interesting at the weekend to hear rumours that the "Rugby Hybrid" game may take place the Queens Jubilee weekend, Tuesday June 5th, so as to beat the southern hemisphere to the stagong of the first game, Leicester Tigers V Leeds Rhinos and Bob Dwyer has been in discussions here to stage at The Emirates Stadium!
Also that Fast Track Sports Marketing have been appointed to handle press and marketing to promote the World Cup in London, they are well experienced from what I am told in sport, is there not a chance that they can be given a remit to raise our profile, find a sponsor? but it is the old problem do we look attractive at present for PR/Marketing/Sponsors?

It's fine to joke! but over the years there have been plenty of goons in union many of them players from clubs smashing up hotels etc and the antics of many leading International players! Union Fans seem blind when it comes to attending Twickers! the England team could be losing every game and they would still fill the stadium, who are the goons then? LOL - not Everyone involved with Rugby League wherever that may be is a toothless goon these days and that goes for players as well, okay they may not have had the Eton education but many have gone on to get and earn degrees.
Will rugby league ever get rid of the flat cap image that Eddie Waring developed?

I accept you have an opinion. I also assertain that it is wrong, but all the same, you are entitled to it. By the way, when I say it's wrong, I point out why in my opinion it is wrong, whilst you retort, as below, with utter drivel based on not one fact. That of course, is my Opinion!
Quote: jaybs "Did I ever state that that rich people are s? many of my personal friends are most successful and come from a privileged background but they are also genuine, why people have to use boxes is beyond me for identifying different groups, but sadly that is the way many do perceive those who attend Twickenham and that is not just assumption, I was born in a two up, two down terraced house, but I never let it hold me back.'"
Re-read that 3 times and all you are doing is saying you don't believe in putting people in pigeon holes......but you make an exception for Union types. By the way, boxes, as you call them are demographic models that are the cornerstone of a lot of successful marketing campaigns, but don't let that get in the way of your ideas eh.
Quote: jaybs "Again I have always clearly stated that any re-brand and re-launch has to be the Complete Package otherwise it is pointless! I said the rebrand was pointless and has been show to be just that.....blame who you want...Gus does, but the fact remains that it should never of happened unless there was a major buy in and partner......in all honestly, F()(K the RFL....They offer no support and the sooner DH realises he is on his own, regardless of the mexican stand offs in the past, the sooner he can address the issue of exposure.
Quote: jaybs "Quins RU I did expect more and especially when we adopted the name, which I supported as I felt it would bring benefits, but we were still the poor cousins and now the poor tenants, I did feel that their name would have assisted with sponsorship when you look at the major brands they enjoy, but that goes back to the

.......BUT YOU DON'T PIGEON HOLE
Please...for the love of God and my sanity, list the attempts over the last 11 years when either at TW8 or TW2 that have been made by the club or the RFL to promote the game or the club.
11 years, 4,000+ days, 148 home games..............5 CEO's, a General manager, 4 Marketing Managers, 3 Commercial Managers, god knows hom many "assistants/interns".....what have they tried?
Oyster Card holders handed out to workers at Canary Wharf.
Viral Video seen by 2,500 people,
free tickets in the ES for 2 games.
Free Tickets on FB for 1 game in return for likes.
2 x 1/4 page adverts in the Evening Standard,
4 Adshel bustops in BRENTFORD.
Above the Urine posters in 10 west London pubs (graded c...as in small boozers)
1 Metro promo for 15 notes including ticket and 6 VB's
Leafletting by the volunteers at Griffin Park
12 Black cabs liveried
Fudging of facebook likes to seem more popular
A dozen boy-band/dance troop/xfactor type of half time shows
Video on a loop in Walkabout bars
Now, I am sure I have missed some out, but the list above is pretty much indicative of why the club doesn't attract fans to games.
Please feel free to use demographic profiling when answering this post

Your "I don't do putting people in boxes" claim is becoming pythonesque........every time you claim it, you then put someone in a demographic box.

When you site examples of those boxes people use, you have to state them, so sorry!
Gutterfax you may like this as a footnote, we have a TV show called "Pointless" were you have to answer questions and you score more points for the answer that the less in one hundred people knew, last week one question was on poets and who wrote what, there were two young couples all grads two with masters and out of the 12 they knew Not One! I may not be a real poetry lover but I knew everyone, sorry that is the comp school boy LOL!!!!! not bad eh??

Cool story bro......all of which has SWEET FA to do with London Broncos/Harlequins Rugby League being totally unable to market itself.....

Gutterfax, it always seems to have to come down to what you may say or what I say, I Fully Respect your opinion and I always find it of interest, I was brought up that you should learn something new every day of your life! and not just feel everything you know is right!
I must say at times that you come over as being the "Oracle" and the Only Guy in the world that knows anything about marketing, I doubt you do know do know so much, but others have qualified in marketing, I would never have earned my gold watch in radio for one of the top five stations in the UK out of hundreds if I knew nothing and was not able to produce successful marketing campaigns and spin research when it was released four times a year.
For your sanity, I will name at last one marketing campaign and I still claim our most successful ever marketing campaign was our tie in with Capital FM who were then the Number One London Radio, I felt it raised our profile and especially with blue collar workers (sorry another type of box LOL) the boxes at The Stoop were full of them, as I drove to home matches it was a pleasure to hit the M40 and then M25 to hear the many commercials as well as station promotions.
I agree the correct marketing has not always been there, none of is know why, is it funding? but then you have to invest and market your profile and product if you want to generate growth in any business.
I just Hope Gutterfax that Fast Track may have been given some remit from the RFL to become involved with us as well as working on the RL World Cup in London and raising the profile of the game, London Broncos fail and will do serious damage to the image of the sport.
