Quote: highwaymana31 "It was 16 - 6 to Quins when I got there. How we got 16 is beyond me. Williams was appalling, he recieved it four times in their 20, spilled it three times, and a Leeds hand knocked it out on the fourth occasion before he had chance to drop it. I thought the lad playing at No. 1 was our best performer'"
I was fortunate enough to get there for the whole game and I think your comments are inaccurate at best.
I am certainly not Dave Williams biggest fan, but I think he played well scoring two (?) tries, defending soundly and consitsently taking the ball up with energy - ok, he did drop one or two but that was when the heavens opened and the ball became like a bar of soap for both teams.
We scored 16 because we fully deserved to score 16 - we played some attractive rugby for the first half hour but lost our was a little from that point. Remember, several of the side had been playing u18s this year so they were very u20, the likes of Oscar Thomas at scrum half and his half back patner, along with all the bench bar Thomas were 17/18 so it bodes well. The good thing was they all looked like rugby league players, which might sound a bit odd, but thinking back over the years we had too many union players dabbling, now they are full on league players.
#1, Kieran Dixon went well but he has a lot to learn (did you see his blooper ??), as does Omari Caro before they are dropped into the first team.
On the whole a creditable performance, a fair scoreline but a lot of positives to take from the game.
