Quote: Mr Sheen "Interestingly (or not), Richmond played the very first game under Football Association rules, against Barnes in Mortlake, in 1863. They can't have enjoyed it much, as they then became founder members of the RFU in 1871. You might not be surprised to learn it was a 0-0 draw.'"
The game against Barnes was played at Barn Elms playing fields, just across from the London Wetland Centre. Both teams will meet again in the new National League Two season shortly.
