| I think we have to manage expectations a bit. When game 1 kicked off, most of us would have been over the moon at not being in the bottom 2 after 13 weeks. Then the rocket start to the season made everyone think it was all on, and now the last 7 matches have everyone in gloom. Yesterday was awful, and some of the skill and commitment on display was unacceptable in professionals. But Quins remain above where most of us expected them to be in the table at this point.
A few facts in the cold light of day.
1. Quins have lost the same number, or fewer, games than Crusaders, Wakefield, Hull KR, Bradford and Salford (and possibly Hull after tomorrow)
2. Quins have scored more points than Catalans, Hull, Bradford, Wakefield and Crusaders (2 less than Salford and only 20 less than Wigan/Hull KR)
3. Quins have conceded fewer points than Bradford, Crusaders and Salford
4. Each time Quins have played, they've played in front of smaller and less vocal home crowds, and almost non-existent away support
5. Quins' team, every week, is worth tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of pounds less than their opponents - and a large part of their total value is sitting in the stands through injury.
Put those together, and you'd have to say that where they currently are is close to miraculous. If they're still in 10th at the end of the season, Powell's exceeded all reasonable expectations. Hull KR and Bradford are below Quins not because of points deductions like Wakey and Crusaders (although the latter would still be behind them without the deduction), but because they're not doing as well, despite having far more advantages than Quins.
None of this helps ease the pain of defeats like yesterday. But we do need to look beyond the immediate. Quins are currently overperforming compared to their playing roster.

6679_1399761959.png [quote="dally messenger":1gysl9ow]was watching an nfl doco. on one of their teams and they used the term bomb to describe those long high passes from quaterback to running back and i think gibson took that idea, realized you cant throw the ball forward in RL and adapted it to a "bomb" kick we have[/quote:1gysl9ow]

| Quote: Smooth Stu "What you also didn't see was the security people trying to make the Salford fans sit down while they were trying to enjoy themselves and sing their songs. I came down and paid on the day, to watch a game of RL as a neutral. I couldn't believe the attitude of your security people, (probably led by ground management) and that is another reason why away fans might not want to come. You have a great stadium and could do so much with your facilities. Increase the match day enjoyment and give all the paying customers a reason to want to come back. The team may not win every game, but, like with all business, you have to generate sufficient interest and satisfaction to bring people back through the turnstiles. I hope you do.'"
That will be stadium security...the Union fans only stand if they need to get a pimms....and only then if it's the Butlers day off

| The blame can't all on Powell's feet at present, I just can't work out why we have collapsed after the start we had, okay we knew it would not continue all season but at least we could compete! Look how long they gave Rea after his sell by date, I think Wigan can have him if it is true he is in the running, Noble may be able to add something on a part time basis, there must be some way to find the money, we are in a total mess!

16679.jpg Well f**k my hat, I didn't know that!
Come all without, come all within, we're London Broncos not the H********s!:16679.jpg |

| I think it should be less a case of Powell out and a Director of Rugby (Rea ?, Noble ?) in. We all knew that RP had no experience when he was given the job and although he got us off to a great start he should have had a D of R in place from the outset.

| Rob, I agree with you. We need someone with experience to work with and further develop Powell - even if it is only on a part-time basis.
