I have always liked the cup match's maybe it's the memories of claret and gold rosettes with a silver cup in the middle, rattles and the thoughts of a family trip to Wembley.

In view of all the recent trials and tribulations it would be good for all our regulars and a few more to turn up on Thursday and recreate in part that magnificent atmosphere at Salford on Friday night just gone.

If we could win Thursday we would hopefully have everyone fit for the semi final and in 'one off' games anything can happen.

It's a tough ask against a good Wakefield side who should start slight favourites on Thursday but it's a game we should fancy our chances in as surely we can't play so really badly against them for a third time this season ??

Every point will count Thursday where its more about the win than performance be interesting to see who's fit and if AK 'sticks or twists'

Danny Kirmond has been on a drip in hospital due to an infected knee. Nick Scruton has muscle damage to his groin (Normally if one of thess don't play neither do the team). David Fifita suspected broken cheekbone/even possible disciplinary and Scott Moore whos just come back possible suspension. Mickael Simon concussion last week thus probably not able to play this week meaning we are quite light especially in leaders and the forwards but hopefully it is a great game and the best team wins!

Looked much more confident and threatening on attack,Symonds lines had a fair influence on that imo.

Sure AK was concerned with us not trying to slow the ptb on occasions,off too quick not even attempting to 'contest the ground'

Some grabbing on the edges & misreads if I was to be hypercritical.Salford are well structured when they shift it though.

One improved performance and a close victory does this mean we are back as favourites? Wakefield have conceded a lot of points since Newcastle apart from their visit to ours which was our low point that set us on a different track.

To sum up,continue the improvement on attack plus tighten up the d from Friday and we will give ourselves a chance.

think he will play brierley for this one? Although he's played poorly twice against Wakey.

This is the only game I have ever said I'm not bothered about. I would much rather stay in the 8 and win one more game than beat your boys and end up with a semi final to contend with. Hkr did it last season to avoid the M p g and in my view it took to much out of them. We should however be visiting you in totally different circumstances with top 8 assured and not a care in the world. If that had been the outcome a win on Thursday would have been a must.

With our injuries this season I don't think the cups a distraction would be nice to have Sebastine and Craig back and rotate Mason, Roberts and Johnson, but most of our players have missed a lot of games and playing each week shouldn't take too much out of them.

In fact we could peak for the cup semi final and middle 8's should we beat Trinity on Thursday.

Noticed how on Friday he put the responsibility for the opening exchanges back on the experienced forwards with Mason,Johnson & Roberts to come from the bench.

Any update on Chubs & Seb possible return dates?

Semi final not until last weekend of July,so plenty of RL to be played before then.However assume the other 3 semi finalists will hope to play the winner of this one.

KR froze big time on the big stage- but they had a very comfortable middle 8s.
The middle 8s this year won't be a doddle-but could work in our favour, a higher intensity than last year without being draining -We could well have a nice fixture against Batley/fax at home the week before the semi and final whilst our opposite number could have to play Wigan/wire/Catalan away.
We will have our pack back by then and possibly a new coach to freshen things - I'm looking forward to it!

Seb, Huby and smith all due to be back around the time of the semi final-

It's a big match a win and a semi final spot will ramp up the competition for the 17 semi final places with players coming back from injury.

It would give us some momentum and matches against Hull, Warrington and Saints will toughen us up for the middle 8's and with a new coach hopefully end this season with some momentum going into next.

Get our full team out and the semi is no given, even though as has been said, the other three will want to play us, I think underdogs will suit us as it did in 2006 and 2009.
