Weak referee who gets Wigan in his ear at half time and from a good 1st half then gives a 7-1 penalty count and two sin bins against us when Wigan's ruck defence was no different to ours they were slowing it down the same but no penalties our way !!

Wain laughs about it, Anderson can't say anything but the ref was clearly affected by whatever Wigan said to him and boy it gave Wigan momentum !!

No complaints tonight a good effort that didn't get what t deserved !!

Disappointed in Joe, he's a Leyther.....Too many 'young/inexperienced' referees in our game, need some slightly 'older' ones with 'b@lls' !

He did OK in the first half- but allowed himself to be bullied into looking one way.

I have more than a mild dislike for Wigan, but that was entirely the right call.

He reffed Leeds Hull last week and something similar seemed to happen.

Bit tricky, on one hand it's dodgy that you only got one penalty in the 2nd half, but mostly the stuff you got caught for was fair enough IMO. Both Ta'ai and Mason gave away obvious head high tackles and Mason did his the very first tackle after a team warning and got binned so you did kind of shoot yourself in the foot with some calls.

Yeah no denying the penalties were penalties but the one by gelling on Murphy was ignored- the Wardle ball steal was a joke- if he'd offloaded it would have been play on. Batemans forearm on (I think it was) Roberts throat, Not denying we killed ourself with the penalties (again) but for a coach to send the captain to complain to the ref st half time is just plain wrong!! You are not telling me that 7-1 is a fair reflection of the penalty count!

A very weak referee. I don't doubt that he was intimidated by the approach by Bateman.
I'm not saying the penalties weren't penalties in the second half but it wasn't consistent to the first half.
I suppose Wigan could of won 10 games with that amount of possession and an almost squeaky clean second half. One penalty.. And they're known as a dirty team.

The problem is the minute the referee doesn't send Bateman away and listens to him he's created a problem that even if he gets every call right it appears he has been swayed as Wigan got a far quicker play the ball than they did in the 1st half.

He has created a no win situation for himself and unfortunately statistically what happened does create that view that he allowed it to happen.

Having praised Silverwood last week this is disappointing that Cobb Was daft enough to let Bateman get in his ear instead of just telling him to get lost !!

Absolutely right and if it's the only thing he learns from this game, it will be a lesson well learned.

Wigan have done this for years, as has Sir Kevin Sinfield.

You would have to have a heart of stone, not to laugh at Sean Wane complaining about slowing the play the ball down.

TBF though you don't truly know how the conversation went. He may well have told Bateman to go away but what can he do as both are heading down the tunnel? He couldn't really get away from the player short of getting some guys to come over and drag him away.

And does being in the refs ear as you walk off the pitch have a different effect to being in his ear during play which all teams do?
