| Great Debut from Simpson, will be talking about that debut try for the rest of his life!
showed good speed, safe under the high ball and an attacking threat ...
Given man of the match too, will he keep his place next week or will Grix return?

| Thought it was a deserved man of the match too, he looked a bit dodgy defensively but everyone seemed to be helping him out but was a constant threat in attack joining the line. That try was special for a kid on his debut. Hopefully it won't be weeks before we see him again.
Should imagine Grix will walk back in though as that's how it works at our club.

| Defensively he clearly needed help- but he did well on his debut. He really needs to put on some size though! McNally was known as sticksy-but Jareds legs are thinner than my 9 yr old daughters!!!

| For me the lad was sensational.
Give him a run in the team, Joins the line well, great under the high ball, confident.

| I'm on holiday so not made the game today.
Genuine question.
On returning the ball did Simpson wait for his wingers and pass to them or run it back straight and hard?

If he ends up being half as tough and with half the class of Brett Hodgson he'll go a long way.
Superb debut.
Backing it up will be the next test and I'm sure the coaching staff will pick the right moment to put him on the pitch again. They sure picked the right moment to debut him. Well done PA and your coaching team.

Are you taking the rinse?!!!
They had no choice but to pick him. Do you think he would have been playing had Grix not been suspended?

| In my view I couldn't give a flying fig for the "stars" feelings Wha incentive does it give lads likeLeeming and Jared if they're given a chance / take iitwith flying colours and then get sidelined again With that approach we won't get the chance to see what they're made of. Yes take each case on its merits but until they appear to be failing at the top level give em the chance to show whether they CAN hack it . The young lads obviously maybe haven't the "pedigree" of the established first teamers but if they shine and are as good in performance as their peers pat them on the back and say well done but that's iit for now is to me soul destroying and will do nothing for their confidence .Sometimes yes there are cases of standing out on their debut but without giving them the chance to blend in and seeing WHETHER they can back it up by giving them a repeatI think you can actually knock back a "young UN's" enthusiasm and progress a lot more than if they had a bad game and if he's any ambition he might try finding opportunities elsewhere..

Connor to full back was a popular 'choice' on here - so no I'm not taking the rinse.
He was deemed ready to play Super League and proved the point.
Plenty of people on here want the youngsters to be given a chance.
We get one on the pitch and he gets MOM. What more do you want?

They had a choice, Connor to FB.
NB would have had 7 playing out of position rather than pick a lad who wasn't even in the squad.
Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't....

| I was surprised to see him play, I thought PA would put connor to fb and wardle left centre. Glad Simpson got his chance. He looked more of a threat than grix has all year, there is no substitute for enthusiasm.
Yes defensively he missed a couple of tackles, but I'd be surprised if grix would have made them anyway. Anderson always said he would pick his team on form, I hope he honours his word.

| Simpson made more defensive plays than Grix ever would, caught players who'd broken clear too
For my money he plays next week

| Anyone whose seen my posts on here will know I'm a supporter of Scott Grix and what he brings to team and our defence. However, I'm always a believer that whoever has the shirt, owns it and it's then theirs to lose.
Simpson has it and it was a tremendous debut. His positional play needs to improve and he wasn't fully tested under the high ball (there was little pressure on him) but he did everything that could have been expected and more. He should play next week.

Simpson ran it back.
Those saying he is skinny, well i didnt see him get dragged back like grix does...
as for the defensive side of things??? didnt see him miss many tackles either. infact he made a great tackle which stopped a break through... again one i doubt grix could have got too as hes too slow.
could grix have scored the try he did? no.
but they both have there pluses as players... would love to see simpson again and to be honest why shouldnt he be given another go after a mom performance. Just got to manage him properly, at least we now know we have a guy who can step in any time.
ive seen him play in the academy years ago and doesnt seem to have put much size on since then but that didnt stop brett hodgson
