| Today has proved that no matter how well any young Huddersfield Giants player plays you will be dropped in favour of the old guard once they have returned to fitness no matter how well they were performing before their injury so unless you want your promising career to come to a stop start stop start situation then stay well clear of the Huddersfield Giants

| You talk absolute rubbish. The giants are giving their players as much or more game time than any other side. When your best players are fit of course they are going to play if it is such an important game. Do you think in the same situation Wigan would not have picked O Loughlan or Catalans Carney.
If Connor and Leeming had played it would have not changed the result.

| With the game being what it was I think it was rite to put ferres and Robbo in. Those two are a handful and can come up with match winning plays.
Now though I would seriously look at leeming vs Ellis and Robbo? We need runs from dummy half and bullet passes on target. Leeming has shown this and can be taught to run from dummy half more often and with a young pair of legs can be at full flight in quickly.
Leeming also looks to be quiet a physical player.
Also looking at grix and Connor for full back. Connor is more physical even a bit of niggle to his game! Puts his head down and runs fast and hard. Only thing that was telling was grix coming in to support the attack more often but again I would look at the age of Connor knowing the more he plays the more he will learn when to come in to create that extra man

| Dont think the result would have been any different.
But yes Leeming should have kept his place with that showing from robinson yesterday.
think ferres played well so that was a good decision.

Leeds were always going to make changes Julie they were coming off the back of three games without a win totally the opposite to Huddersfield

Only one person talking rubbish here Stella and it aint me. Name who these young players Huddersfield are giving this game time to because I am struggling its five years just about since any young Huddersfield player came through to hold a regular first team position and maybe three in the last ten years yes they have flirted with one or two but these players were never going to make it in Super League as long as they have a hole in their would say that Huddersfield are bettered only by Hull KR on giving the young ones a go

Somewhere in the dust of time rest the bones of the Galilean
He who was spat upon. He whose face was marred beyond all human likeness
Somewhere buried among the lies of the past rests the tomb of Yeshua
Of he who was made God in a world without Hope.
And when this son of Joseph is found. What then will the Church of Rome say?
Prepare yourself for the day is coming. And men will say
"Blessed are the wasted lives who perished in the flames of the holy war": |

Leeds could have won 30000 games on the trot and Sinfield would still have come into that game for Sutcliffe.
No decent coach anywhere in the world, in any sport would pick a youngster with a handful of games experience ahead of a veteran player for such an important game.

| I agree with a lot of the OP but I think there is a deeper reason behind the way youngsters are treat at the Giants.
1st off we have to realise and accept that the Amateur game around Huddersfield is very weak compared to most League area's so the number of quality young players is far less, That said we do seem to get Photos in the examiner talking up this young player or that young player, most of who never seem to get to Super league for one reason or another.
Someone has said your best players will always get picked for big games and I agree with him that most coaches go down this route, what I don't agree with is young players being kept out by so called better players whatever their form, or by players on loan from other clubs.
I don't know the setup for buying and selling players but over the past few years it has boarded on ludicrous. Examples are Drew (not worth 2 years, sold and re-signed ) Wood sold ( no longer required, re-signed ) the biggest blunder of all Hodgson. All water under the bridge ( true ) but who's decision was it to resign Wood when he was not good enough first time, Who signed Ellis when he couldn't get a regular spot in the Cas side, Cas knew a year before he went that Clark was going to Warrington yet they made no attempt to keep Ellis.
Things like this must surely have a bearing on our young players, It just seems that once you get on the inside you are set, and if you have been picked for England that gets you Legendary status at the Giants
I'm not saying some of these players don't deserve their place, but they need to fight for them, which is where the young players come in. Alex Murphy ( my favourite coach ) once said, You should have a very good reason for changing a winning side, Paul Anderson obviously thinks differently. Myself I agree with Murphy, It is a different era but the idea is still to get your team up to win big games.

| Its quite rare that huddersfield release a youngster and then they go on to be a top SL player.
sometimes they just arent good enough, the ones that do make it are playing for us now.

| Spoke to faiumu after the game and asked him what his plans were. he's staying on to help out with U19s which is brilliant. He made the observation that when you go to Wigan and Saint Helens so many youngsters at primary age play RL but In Hudds they don't, and he clearly feels they should! he's keen to start to address it and is clearly something he feels very passionate about.
