Looking through the out of contract players in the NRL.
I noticed 3 players that would add to our strengths :-

Russell Packer NZ Warriors ( a barnstorming prop )
Junior moors West Tigers ( a tough prop )
Matt Utai West Tigers ( a very strong running winger )

I hope Anderson has noted these players.

l hope he,s also noted the last time we went shopping in Oz, we got a couple of
barnstorming 2nd rows, who can usually be found around row 9 behind the dugout

That was our bad luck.
Warrington got a gem with Trent Waterhouse.

Maybe it was luck or maybe Warrington do more research before contracts are signed? I don't know this to be true, just asking the question.

Bad luck re LOD and Doof.

How on Earth can it be anything other than bad luck. At the time of their signing they were playing top level Aussie rugby without any hint of injuries. It's hardly their fault they became injury-prone whilst with us.

life in the NRL is much harsher, l have read stories about players given the needle and pushed onto the field, there,s plenty of backup if you carn,t make it. life then seems easier if you get a SL club, maybe as one poster said, we maybe should do more research, lf its just bad luck then we have had more than our fair share. Evens, De Vere, Hodgy, Simpson, Frog, LOD, and l,m sure lve missed some.
l have a theory, they think they are in for an easy ride so don,t train as hard as they are used to, very cold in February, don,t warm up enough, ie Fa,alogo twanging hamstrings from day one, pension packers, 50%ers, lazy buggers, take your pick.
You all know l dont, want them here, ok if we get a half like Luiluai(Wigan), l,l eat my words, but all in all, the money would be much better spent closer to home.

How can you put Brett Hodgson in this list.
Also i dont think James Evans missed many games his injury problems were back in Australia.

If you are suggesting our plyers do not warm up properly not only are you insulting them you are insulting the entire back room staff.
Players get injuries unfortunatly we seem to have had more then average but to suggest it is down to lack of preperation is crazy.

and its not cold in canberra and melbourne in winter?...the last canberra home game was played in temps of 2 degrees, so yes australian players do know how to warm themselves up, we have just been unlucky with injuries

Didn't Canberra host the only NRL game to be played in snow? I'm pretty sure I read something like thta when Brad Drew was here.

Wasn't LOD injured and out for the season when we signed him?

I think we signed him and then he got injured, but played twelve of the first thirteen games once he was with us - only being rested against Wakefield before the Warrington match last season and then his injury hit in the warm up against Saints. That's how I remember it anyway?

The guy was awesome at the beginning, then got injured and we've hardly seen him play since. Such a waste.

l,l never learn will l, coming on here with an opinion, a theory even.
there is something far from right at the Giants.
Maybe, just maybe, our backroom staff. are not the most fantastic in the world
Maybe we do have players who can pull the wool etc
they carn,t in Oz, (l,ve had in depth visits to a few clubs, Manly ie wire their players, any decrease from the optimum stats in training and there.s an inquiry ok we are not so far advanced but you see where l,m coming from) and l don,t need any geography lessons l.ve been lots of times
yes lt can be cold but nothing like here
Maybe we don,t look into players backgrounds enough , l could go on, but l carn,t be bothered
