| The Giants made a statement about putting a policy in place to reduce the reliance on Ken Davy, as highlighted when the licences were renewed.
I wonder if the KB transfer is the start of that? I know he said he wants to move because of family and I accept that, though Wigan is not a million miles away! Widnes approached the Giants who could have turned them down straight away, and we should be getting a reasonable fee for him, so is this the future?
Get young players, develop them, put them on 5 yr deals and every year we move one or two on getting a nice fee in return, so reducing the reliance on KD. A theory I have and not backed up by any information or "inside knowledge", but would seem to make sense - and there must be a thought now that there will be little increase in income through the turnstiles.
Doesn't mean a mass exodus, more a steady trickle.
Time will tell, but that income has to come from somewhere, and unless another backer appears I can't think of anything else.
And i'm not rabble rousing, just seems a logical way forward at the moment, though how successful a club can be doing that is debatable.

| ^Correct.
There are only a few clubs that would even consider paying fees. The Brown situation seems to be an exceptional circumstance. It was interesting to read KB's comments that "Wigan were an option but probably not for Huddersfield" that suggests to me that Wigan weren't willing to pay a fee or if they were it would be peanuts. Transferring players is a buyers market you are hugely reliant on what a team is willing to pay and what they are willing to buy, there simply wouldn't be the demand to make it sustainable.
It would be a strange way of running a business relying on an income stream that isn't guaranteed and where you have no control over how much each commodity sells for.

| i understand it isn't like football but i tihnk what the OP is trying to say is that if these players are all on long term contracts there is always a chance that one team may want one of them and therefore will have to pay a fee for them to us.
I dont think the suggestion is we intend to sell every player for a fee just that there is a chance this could happen.

| Just to clarify, Daz is correct I didn't mean we would be selling them all on, but we have a policy of long term contracts for the most valuable players and there is a reasonable chance that every now and then one will go for whatever reason and we will get a fee, which could be part of the plan on relieving the burden on KD, which in reality has to be a priority surely. It seems lie it could be a biggish fee from Widnes and if Lunt goes to Leeds that wil be more money coming in - unless player swaps are on the cards.
