I heard a giants fan whinging about playing down the shay because the pitch is much smaller at the shay than at the galpharm. is it a big difference and will it affect the way the giants play against teams like castleford who play on a postage stamp size pitch

l think a good side can adapt to its surroundings, the Giants are used to playing on a big field, and seem to produce their best football on these pitches, but we can also keep it tight when neccasary. Cas have a small
pitch but are known for playing free flowing football.
l think playing our 3 games at Fax will be a slight dissadvantage, but we have to live with it. lf l was a betting man, l would put money on us winning all 3, if they were at the Pharm, only time will tell.

Means nothing to me...we play on different size pitches throughout the year and should be able to adapt to any size...ATEOTD if we play well enough we will win the games anyway regardless of pitch size !

i think pitch size is important to some coaches, i remember in the 2001/2002 season when we got to the buddies cup final and the nfp final and our coach had an exact pitch marked out at leeds road to match either post office road or hilton park .. not sure which game it was but he said it was very important as that pitch was much smaller than ours

The width of the pitch is more important than the length. The extra 6 yards is the equivalent of having one extra player when defending. It would be the same as at Huddersfield having 14 players across the width of the pitch, That is quite a difference.

Just divide the number of players by the width of the pitch to work it out
