| 6 months ago I'd have said we were a club on the up. Now, we're back at the crossroads.
No Hodgson + no Brown(?) + no Balloo(?) in one foul swoop = Back to cannon fodder. Unless we want to get our brown envelopes out!
I am deeply concerned that all the hard work over the past few years is potentially going to be undone.

| How do we know that were not going to replace these people with better people ?
ATEOTD we are now known throughout the RL world and our reputation is X 10 what it was 5 years ago .
Then on the other hand like you say it could set us back 2 or 3 years if we dont replace quality with even better or at least equal quality...........ah well the ups and downs of being a Fartowner will continue !

dont talk rubbish... was you at the game today?!
giants right to offer hodgson a 1 year contract (missed the game again today through injury, cudjoe was excellant) got a ready made full back and money to spend if we want to bring somebody else in
brown + baloo not going anywhere yet, pure speculation. IF brown goes, he has set the tone for the club to grow even stronger, attracting players like gilmour, faalogo will attract other quality players
support the giants now and stop worrying about speculation... fickle fans love to soak up bad coverage when if you really look at it giants are again having a great season so far.
up the giants

Was Hodgson injured? He looked 100% running around Leeds Road Playing fields yesterday with the rest of the squad.

There has been a LOT of smoke re: Brown. Maybe if that's true Balloo will stay. But is Balloo a head coach?

Fickle I ain't. Realistic, on the other hand...
I hope Thewlis and Davy are working their socks off behind the scenes because I have a feeling they need to.

There has been a LOT of smoke re
if you was at the game you wouldnt be as worried
yes brett was injured..tried hard to play the game but failed a fitness test beforehand, nathan brown and brett knew questions would be asked if he missed the game
the players dont seem to be letting the speculation get to them, just other fans and its seems even our own seem to be making a big fuss and trying to destabilise things..
giants have just won 38-10 and all you can do is make a post like this

Brett was NOT injured. He would've passed a fitness test yesterday when he was running around with the rest of the squad.
I'd be a lot happier if I were sure Nathan Brown wasn't going at the end of this season. I think he's been the catalyst for the success of our last 2 years relative success.

| Whilst there may be an over reaction here to some of the bad news we have heard over the last week the OP does have a point.
We all know that Ken Davy will not be around forever and that if the club had to survive on its current income and fan base we would be at the bottom of SL top of NL1.
To avoid this scenario we need to look at what can be done to increase our supporter base and increase club revenue so that we are less reliant on our owhers generosity.
Over the last five years our supporter base has steadily risen but it has slowed downlast season and this from jumps of a thousand into hundreds or tens. We really need to be looking at a 10,000 average within 3 years.
How will we do this
Most peoples suggestions is that we need to win a trophy. that would significantly help but is in no way guaranteed. As fans it is also out of our control to an extent
What the club and supporters need to be doing is looking at what can be done to
A increase the fan base
b Improve the match day experience to make it enjoyable for the fans
C Improve Commercial / Merchandising income.
It is success in these three areas which will determine the future of the club regardless of whether we get silverware.
These things also need to be addressed now because whilst the club is successful on the field it is more likely that we will be able to improve in the areas above. Success on the field breeds success off the field and we need to keep this moving on . If we do not build now it will be much harder if not impossible to do it if and when Ken decides to reduce his involvement.
As JFK said, '' Ask not what your club can do for you but what you can do for your club''.

| Why look too far ahead, I for one am enjoying the players we have at the club now, the rugby that the team is playing now and all the above is speculation, NB has been great for us but we have given him a break, T Smith is another who we gave a break to and look what happened to him.
Baloo is at the club and if and when NB goes, Baloo has done enough to be given the chance IMO, if he isn't at the club then the clubs track record in bringing in coaches has been good IMO (Sharp excluded from this again just IMO).
Why all the doom and gloom? It's about time we all relaxed and started enjoying whats going on at the Giants. Que Sera sera

I'm not over reacting.... I know I'm putting forward a worst case scenario. But if Brown AND Balloo go who is our rudder? What's going to persuade players to come to this club and to stay here? Not their captain, that's for sure!
I believe Tony Smith and Nathan Brown are head and shoulders above anyone else in Super League. We need someone of their calibre to replace Brown. So who?
The next six months are, IMHO, the most crucial for this club in the Super League era. And I think Ken Davy has to plan for crowds being at the level they are now, not 10k. Unless we win the SL Title or the Challenge Cup.... but even with the squad we have we're going to need a fair old slice of luck for that to happen. The loss of Hodgson to a SL rival is bad news regardless of the reasons given to the press.
As Crackers has said more than once, the most important factor in getting bums on seats is having a proper trophy winning side. Real contenders, Ma!! We're on the cusp of having a team that can do that, with a coach who has instilled something extra into his squad. Another false dawn would, IMHO, be a huge step backwards for Ken's aim of bringing more regular fans into the Galpharm.
I wish Ken all the luck in the World. And I hope my worries are unfounded. But I am worried.
