its more about getting a foothold in the north american market... tv, sponsors etc... the game does need to expand and if it did take off it would be great for the game as a whole

No Canadians in their team? No but how do you expect a grassroots to develop without a senior team? Do you want them to wait 20 years then apply to join?

Toronto have jumped through hoops and the visa thing is a red herring for poorly run clubs to use as an excuse.

And if you don't know what Toronto bring to the sport the you have paid literally no attention. The North American sports market is huge. Tapping into that market could give RL access to sponsors and tv deals unheard of in our game.

Oh and from what I've seen Lamport is a better ground than more than half the grounds in SL already

I love a good conspiracy theory, so here's mine...

I've thought for the last couple of years that the RFL are desperate to get a SL based in Bradford. With the Bulls not tearing up any trees, I believed that they set Toronto up with a view to when they got promotion to SL, they'd make them move the franchise back to England - based at Odsal.
Then when they moved their base from Brighouse to Bradford it moved a step nearer (Noble being involved also helps).
I know that this is a load of claptrap but what if...????

Anyway your other points are so negative...there are no major issues over here,we are flexible. You gotta try to be a little more optimistic...I know you have seen expansions come and go.....now we have a born and bred winner in expansion, the dream has become the reality.

I haven't a problem with Toronto in super league, yes there are some logistical issues, but people who drive change overcome them, don't back off because its too problematic, time for change

Well you have won promotion (more than likely ) on the terms everyone knew about so as far as i'm concerned you are entitled to be in, and i want it to succeed as much as the next guy. I know full well that NA is a very big market, I also know that Europe is even bigger and so far we have managed 1 super league club, However it's all to try for and i wish you well but it has to grow over there pretty quickly to have any chance IMO

We are growing fast....unbelievable really! I'm predicting we will have our first sellout during the playoffs. Its the average age of the fan base thats good too, there is a very young and youthful overall demographic...we got us a winner over here! From what i can piece together there is a real possibility that the team has just went into the black....clear canoeing from here on in.
In the playoffs how many fans would Widness or Salford or the other Super League teams bring over with them do you think? I would assume more than most of the Championship sides.

Three years we said we would start the first Trans Atlantic team....people laughed and mocked us and said it couldn't be done....we did it.
Two years ago many in League 1 laughed at us and we won the League...no one laughing now....many are copying some of our techniques (the wiser ones like York).
This year started with many in Championship laughing and predicting doom for us and we won the Championship...many people gagging today.

The title of the thread is 'Toronto Defies Logic'...its a little misleading. All that Toronto does is show initiative, flexibility and a belief in itself. All of these problems people point out are, in fact, not problems at all but minor road bumps. In fact, many present unique opportunities for growth. The growth is explosive over here, the spirit unbounded....the future like a glowing new sunrise while on the lake in the canoe to welcome yet another wonderful day.

Canoeman, while I’m quite happy to have Toronto kicking around the place, that will quickly change if your supporters start being arrogant tits.

Toronto’s first taste of SL rugby saw them take a 66 point drubbing and I see nothing about Toronto that suggests they will break the iron law of sport - it’s nigh on impossible to maintain a happy crowd and team when you’re getting thumped every week. Believe me, the people on here know that better than most.

All I did was ask if Salford and the other SL teams would be traveling with a large number of fans....this interests me since its all new over here and the traveling fans are fun and nice to talk to. The Wolfpack fans like the visiting fans. Then I was called clueless.

Toronto handed Warrington their head on a plate until halftime and some ref on a power trip put us down 2 and 3 men...the first taste of SL was actually the year before when we played Hull and Salford.

This is what you have to understand about Toronto which fans over there just don't seem to get: if Toronto is getting thumped every week in SL we would easily maintain a happy crowd (probably grow; its a Toronto thing; ever hear of the Toronto Maple Laughs) and the team would still be positive and loving it over here....what is true for teams over there is different than the sports world over here....its a totally different dynamic.

You say it is the 'iron law of sport' but I'm just telling you it doesn't apply to this good thing we got going in Toronto called the Wolfpack....I know you don't believe me...that is why someone started the 'Defies Logic' thread...but the logic is self imposed.

Almost all of them have failed.

I’m not suggesting that Toronto will fail, just that it steps up enormously on the field now and history is against them.

Yes, we will see shortly. But lets be clear, no one dropped us in...we have earned it from the very bottom up and we've learned alot along the way....ALOT!

The Toronto Wolfpack will not fail...we are very different from the others....even the most casual of observers should be able to see this.

Its just a small minor step at the end of a long arduous climb for us.....we have spotted the campsite after a hot day on the river....just a few more J strokes and we are there.

Catalan made history. Toronto are just Leigh playing away from home.

But it’s a tough gig. Of the current SL clubs the most recently founded was Catalans - and they started out in 1934. Plenty of clubs have come and gone since then.
