yes, that was my point nic, the actual "gate" was 14,400 but only 10,000 were in attendance, why dont they just announce their actual attendances? embarrassing for hoyle perhaps?

If 10,000 is embarrassing what does that say about our 4-5000. What we wouldn't do for a measly 10,000

Yes I know Jools Giants fans can't really comment on embarrassing crowds, and 10000 at Leeds Road regularly would've been some achievement for Town fans back then but football will always be the bigger attraction whether we like it or not.

The 'gate' figure for the npower League 1 game between Huddersfield Town and Brentford was 14,405 - but how was it reached?

That figure represents the number of tickets sold for the fixture, which consists of the following:

Fans in attendance: 10,534

(From Brentford: 111)

Total 'Gate': 14,405

They report attendance figures to include all ST holders because the argument is that they cannot sell tickets for those seats anyway so they may aswell include them as being occupied.
Formula according to Bradford RLFC. Simples!

i wasn't comparing our crowds jools, just saying that to me town expect and probably should get bigger crowds ( as should we) but we dont seem too afraid to announce our true attendance figures whether good or bad.

True attendance figures are so we pay less to the tax man.

Tax is calculated on the p&l figures, if a seat is sold' it's revenue and used in the P&L, not whether the person attended or not

Tax is paid on the season tickets and then on each additional payment at the turnstiles.

An attendance figure on its own can't be used for tax purposes as the figures would need to be broken down into season ticket prices, prepay ticket prices, gate prices, concessions, discounted tickets/freebies, etc.

You pay corporation tax once a year based on profit (if any).
Attendance figures are just a crude indicator of one of the many sales income streams.
