Quote: Crackerjack "The supporters got behind them Friday because they played with some determination and guts when clearly on paper their pedigree was nowhere near the Rhinos
Today was a disgrace and a betrayal of fans who spent their earnings travelling out there to support hoping for at least a repeat showing that would get them up to 8th position after a poor start . The senior players showed no leadership and example to the young lads thrown to a team made up mainly of seasoned pros and looked to have absolutely no rhythm or game plan .
At least someone should have introduced them to each other before they got on the plane
What a complete waste of a pilots time and fuel!
Frankly the horizon of hope looks a very long way away Forget the injury justification Professional players paid to do their job should at least have some personal pride but no evidenceof it on that showing . Still Mac should at least be grateful !'"
There is supposedly an invitation to coaches to apply for the job going out. Now if i were a coach or indeed any coach who is worth a light , he will research the job and the club very carefully before he applies.
What he will find is a club that has been in the wilderness for more years than he has probably been alive, Had more coaches than he has had hot dinners and so little success that you couldn't make it up.
Fair enough up till 25 years or so ago that applied to most of , if not all of the Rugby league right up to Summer rugby starting and the injection of Sky money. With the help of Mr Davy and his money the Giants got into the top club and with the exception of a few seasons you could count on one hand ( almost exclusively down to N Brown ) nothing has changed, the club has not moved forward one inch in real terms, it survives on Sky money supported by Mr Davy's money, Crowds never grow because ( in my opinion ) they either want to see a winning team, of they want to see decent Football for more than an odd game now and then, so at Huddersfield they lose out on both counts.
So what any prospective coach see's is in affect, A club that has gone nowhere for a long time and shows no sign of doing so anytime in the forsee able future, why would any coach of any note want to get enmeshed with a club like that. It comes over as a losers club from the very top downwards.
You do get the odd coach from nowhere ( as it were ) T Smith, Nathan Brown , etc but they are few and far between, so you either make the job very lucrative to attract the top men, or you go down the well travelled route of a lesser coach and expensive has been's and semi crippled players.
Somewhere out there is the man who can do the job, and if we were talking Saints, Leeds, Wigan etc they would leave no stone unturned until they found him, Sadly it doesn't work like that at the Giants They seem to get to keep dipping their bread in the Gravy no matter how badly the club staggers, so they will continue to bump along the bottom with endless more false dawns, and with the emergence of Toronto Toulouse etc , the lower divisions look nailed on in the near future.
