| Bailey looks good! Breaks the line a fair bit and looking to offload! Also seems to be a mild mannered bloke who would be suited to be a captain!
Kafusi and Jonson! Look to offer a lot kafusi running hard being very physical! Jonson running hard similar to Patrick! In for eorl and koppy! Both look tired and need to know pressure is on for not performing
Wingers are sound all four can come in offer something a little different but all good!
Centres joe is bloody ace! Great lad does everything asked of him and more Leroy a little hit and miss but worth having him just needs to release the winger a bit more
Halves brough is still one of the best out there but needs to have a winning pack infront of him and control his emotions! Robbo hard one really do we put him at hooker with wood in the halves or stick with them?
I would try
1. Grix
2. Jerry / Blackmore
3. Leroy
4. Joe
5. Broughton/ Murphy
6. Brough
7. Bailey
8. Patrick
9. Lunt
10. Ferres
11. Kafusi
12. Mulally
13. Bruno
14. Eorl
15. Taai
16. Robbo
17. Johnson

| I actually thought Eorl did very well last night. Amazing how different people see things.
I'm going to write to the RFL and ask them when the rule for a try changed from 'downward pressure' to 'simply having some contact with the ball', though I suppose it says in the rules 'at least sideways pressure'.
And shouldn't we have had a penalty when they scored under the posts in the 2nd half? I mean, didn't their 14th man obstruct one of our defenders?
The games this season where we've been heavily down in the forst quarter all have one thing in common. Bruno - or rather a lack of Bruno. Without him the middle is wide open. It shouldn't be but it is.
And competition for places? The only time we seem to see it iswith the wingers - oh, and Bruno. It's all very well saying that youngsters have to be blooded, but both Wigan and Saints have had to throw their 'kids' into games because of injuries. Perhaps if we'd had a few more injuries and youngsters coming in fighting for their SL careers, well... [Not wanting players to be injured, perhaps 'playing badly' could be used as an excuse for not playing a 'star'?]

| Quote: GiantDee "The match was lost in the first 12 minutes - 18 points down.
Kopczak, Robinson and Lunt all gifted tries with pathetic defence in that period.
Someone said Koppy did well - I find that astonishing, he can be a very good prop, but he looks way off the pace. I would recall Kaufusi and give
Koppy a good rest.
Robbo is another that needs a rest', again he can be a very good player but is currently awful. As well as being directly responsible for 2 Saints tries his passing last night was consistently behind the man.
Just checked stats on SL website - pathetic. Koppy 7 carries for 46, given the minutes he played that is just lazy.
As a pack we only made Masoe make 12 tackles, that confirms my feeling that we didn't even try to dominate a Saints pack weakened by injuries.
Only Blackmore has decent stats.'"
I believe I said it. I'm not one for stats or anything like that but watching the game Koppy didn't just surrender or flop when coming into contact with the opposition. He broke the line again which he has done a few times recently. He got back into the line quicker than he has done recently. He looked eager which is all we can ask for. He's not at his best yet but stood out for me in a team were most lacked any enthusiasm.
He's been getting abit of stick recently... He's not blind to it so to show fight is encouraging.

Well, considering it was given as a penalty try, I assume their reply would be that the amount of downward pressure is irrelevant...

Why should Saints be penalised when THEY did nothing wrong? I agree it was very poor from Silverwood but it was HIS mistake. You can't penalise Saints for a mistake made by the ref.
Thought your lads were poor last night, which came as a surprise to me because I was expecting a hammering. Danny Brough is great on his day but god, does he waste a lot of his energy whinging. Anyway, hope you guys find your form soon, as you were great to watch last year. Next week would be a great time to find it

I was expecting a penalty try, but did not see any reference to one being given, hence my dissatisfaction with an 'ordinary' try being awarded.
I was also under the impression that if the player with the ball came into contact with an official, the game was stopped. I'm sure that your player did touch Silverwood.

| we were awful just awful, we were lacking from the first minute and the game was over after 15 minutes, we did well to get back into it at 18-6 then self destructed again.. i might be in the minority here.. but when leroy tried the flick on to blackmore which led to their 4th try i thought he should have just caught the ball, taken the tackle and make saints start a set from near their own line, something they didn't do much..instead of building pressure we try and force the pass/offloads trying to score all the time.
we are beaten when the opposition do the basics right and we don't, we look to try and score every set rather than just build pressure and turn the opposition round.
last night we were given the run around by wellens and wilkin!
PA said we lacked intensity from the off and that they responded to some harsh words last week, maybe we could try that?
rather than just taking it easy and hoping things will go our way, i can't remember too many games this season when we have come out and forced the opposition onto the back foot, it's the other way round and it's the one thing thats letting us down at the moment.

The video ref announced it when he gave the decision.
And not sure on the ruling of that one, and not sure whether he did actually touch Silverwood or not. I thought he didn't, but rather just hit the gap.

| Quote: the stella kid "awful in defence. Surely against a team like saints you play a tackle machine like Lawrence or Bailey. You have to question what is going on when we cannot even do basics like making sure the defence comes out in one line. having said that when we did have the ball our two half backs and starting hooker were abysmal with ball in hand and with the kicking option on last tackle.
Today for me was embarrasing as St Helens where so far from been full strength'"
I posted after the London game and below was your response to me.
the stella kid wrote:
You do spout some absolute negative rubbish. The giants have won four on the bounce but according to you there is no effort.
You mention the Bradford game.Remind me what score that was. I could carry on but I won't because you post just makes me so angry.
sorry to upset ya fella but im not for a minute gonna pretend im happy with how we are going this season. I stick by what I said, Bradford next then 3 tough games in Wigan, Saints and Leeds and if we put the same effort we have against Widnes and Catalans to name 2 we wont get many wins. That is my opinion and im bloody angry too with what I feel is a lack of urgency and enthusiasm so far this season. We won the League last year by putting the hardwork in and have kept the same squad, Wire and Wigan have both lost top top.players and are weaker for it. We should have kicked on from.last season and it hasnt happened. Sorry but ask around and reckon majority agree we not where we should be.

| Do you think that Kafusi and Bailey should have been given more opportunity to gel before being dropped/shipped out? I know they've been training with the boys etc. but training matches aren't a full blooded Super League game...?

I don't think in Kafusi's case he was shipped out because of the team play part of the game. He couldn't get back into the line after making a tackle quick enough. He wasn't needed for us at that point. If he comes back like Mullally did we are in for a treat.
I don't think Anderson has decided his first team yet tbh. Too much competition.
It almost excites me for the back end of the season if we aren't injury ridden.

does anyone play for our link up club batley bulldogs?!
anderson clearly does not like offloads, are the Giants becoming boring under him?

| We are 8th highest team for offloads ant not that far from the top.
The three teams at the bottom are miles behind so are defiantly been coached not to offload are Widnes,London and Wigan.
So not doing Wigan any harm to not be offloading
