| to me the main drop in crowds for just about everyone is the significant reduction in away support from nearly every club, speaking for the giants home games thats definately true, plus the games i've seen on sky most away support has diminished.
This must be down to the state of the country to me, i personally have missed more away games this season than any season in the last 30 years, purely down to cost in travel.

And why it's important to at least maintain your home support.

| Quote: GiantDee "Salford (40%), Bradford (25%), Saints (22%) and London (21%) have all lost a greater proportion of crowds than we have (19%) and our lost numbers are pretty concerning. Could be misleading though, a lot of Bradford's previous numbers were not actually in the ground!!? I wonder what the true loss there is and are they actually taking in more through higher prices?
It is not good at all, Wigan and Catalans both also have significant drops (10 & 12%)'"
It is disappointing, but you have to look at these figures in context.
We were always looking at a fall considering it was our first season at the new ground last season. However, there are other reasons: stadium issues and, probably the biggest factor, our form.
Also have to factor in:
- A very low crowd for a game that should have been called off due to the snow.
- We only got 14k for the Wigan game (which was disappointing) and we probably lost 2-3k because it was played on a Monday night.
- We also have yet to play Warrington at home.

| Albion I understand your reasoning for the drop but all clubs can come up with similar arguments - it is a general RL problem because as we all know once you lose supporters (for whatever reason) it is hard to get them back.
I'm sure all clubs will be affected by Monday and Thursday games and this constant moving of games to suit tv schedules is going to be a bigger problem all round judging by comments across the board about not renewing season tickets.
Interesting you cite the new stadium as a reason - clubs generally benefit from a new stadium - what is it about the stadium?

| I wish people would stop trying to make excuses- and comparing drops in crowds etc. the fact remains if we take clubs with similar attendances to us eg Wakefield, cas and widnes and then put their team AT THE TOP OF THE LEAGUE you can bet their attendances would be a heck of a lot bigger than ours!
£15 for Sundays game- I'll be amazed if we get 7k

| with 2 games to go at home, only wigan, warrington, leeds and bradford have brought over 1000 supporters to the johns smiths this year, salford wont, wakey possibly will.
away support numbers are definately down, as well as home fans of course.

| Saints and Salfords figures were inflated last year due to being the first season in a new stadium , it would be better to compare them to 2011 season

but not looking good for RL as a whole really.
salford and wakefield left for us now to play at home are they going to attract over 6251 to boost the average abit? maybe the wakefield one will but not by much.'"
You cant have a big drop as your crowd is so tiny to start with. 6K for a team top of the league....dis-grace-ful. At least sir ken can afford to pay yer players out of his back pocket so fair play. Peace out.

| I'm so bored off all this talk about our attendances, we have a crap following so what? When was the last time a team won a trophy for having the most fans? Other fans only come on here and moan about attendances because that's all they can knock us on, I was at Fartown and supported them for the last 20 years through the dark days and now I'm watching a great rugby team if others don't wanna watch that's there choice no skin off my nose. All this talk is just taking away from how well we've done this season and I m gonna enjoy it while it lasts when Ken leaves if we can't compete with the attendances i'll still be there supporting what ever division we're in least i'll hopefully be able to say I was there when we won the league shield or grand final.

| The top attended club in Rl gets 15,000. Given that in every top league in every sport in the world there is a decline in attendances of at least 33% ( and more usually 60-70%) between the top and lowest attended clubs and given that at least 5 other clubs get crowds over 10,000. Then what exactly do people expect our crowds to be? Until Wigan and Leeds start getting attendances of over 20,000 it simply isn't going to happen that the majority of other clubs will get over 10,000. League position is irrelevant because there are only a finite number of people wanting to watch the sport.
The major difference is that in most sports the majority of teams operate at over 90% capacity week in week out. Not one team in the RL operates above about 75-80%. That is the problem and it's a problem the whole sport faces not just us.
