| Quote: GIANT DAZ "The positives are it's only a game, it's a sport, a chance to meet up with mates and have a laugh at the end of a week, it's not that important where folk need to almost cry themselves to sleep......if we lose we lose if we win, well we will have an extra beer to celebrate.'"
A post that some sums the attitude of the club unfortunately.
Who cares if we win or lose, who cares if we provide entertainment or value for money.
This post could have been written by the chief exec.
Still Daz and Thewlis will be able to turn around and blame the fans and the people if Huddersfield when it all falls apart

| It's not just one game into the season that is so disappointing, it's just one big train crash after another over a few seasons! While Stone & Thewlis are at the helm, it's just going to be one defeat after another. No wonder The Huddersfield Examiner has lost interest as most of the public of Huddersfield have.

It’s not the losing that’s a problem. In the bad old days when we finished bottom year after year we were often losing by many points every week- but the lads had a dig. No one would ever have had a go at the likes of Reilly and Roarty. There just seems to be a lack of cameraderie In Our side- a lack of willingness to work FOR each other rather than just alongside each other. A coach can’t do anything about a playing squad he inherits in terms of ability- but he must be able to inspire his side and stone hasn’t improved that aspect. When things don’t go our way they all blame each other (especially brough) and start playing as individuals rather than as a team. I believe We have a sports psychologist on our board so why isn’t this problem going away???

Let's face it the Huddersfield public lost interest about 40 odd years ago.

Sadly this is true. When Alex Murphy arrived we turned around the playing fortunes of the club very quickly, but those 20 dire years (70's and 80's) have left a much deeper impact with the fanbase. It seems that the missing generation of fans continues to haunt us today, whereas clubs like Hull KR and even Leigh take defeat and disappointment on the chin and come back the stronger our fanbase is as fickle as the winter sun. We have provided a winning team, (almost) silverware and top international players, and yet the people of Huddersfield simply will not turn up in the numbers we deserve.
I would love it to be different as i have watched and loved my team for some 25 years now, but the reality is the town doesn't want it, Mr Davey has thrown everything he can at it, and continues to give away season tickets at lower than market value for a good number of years in the hope of igniting the sport.. Maybe if we'd won at wembley.. but i don't think anything is good enough for the people of Huddersfield to support our great team.

| Some interesting stats from last Thursdays game. Mamo made 14 tackles- that’s a lot for your fullback. Rankin made 30- that’s again a lot for a half. Compare that with 3 from Shaul, 8 from Sneyd and 14 from kelly. Our players gave away 10 penalties
Our top metre maker was Murphy.
Clough made 9 metres in 6 carries, Smith 11.5 in 8 carries, ikahihifo only 6.3 per carry in 11 carries but made 5 tackle busts. Oli roberts was our top tackler with 35.
Lots of positives - but some lessons to be taken- that can easily be put right!

Ken Davy really hasn’t thrown everything at it.
A large proportion of people in the town just don’t know the club even exists. If they do know it exists, they don’t know what it’s about. And if they do know what it’s about, it won’t be about attractive things.
And who can blame them? It’s nigh on impossible to find out stuff about the club. There’s little presence in the town, and what there is is old and out of date. There’s nothing in the “Giants” branding (such as it is) to connect the club to the town in any meaningful way.
The only significant marketing campaign I can recall was “The Giants Revolution” from about ten years back. As a concept, it had no connection with the club or the town but at least it was *something*. It was followed up with nothing at all really. Just the odd poster of Eorl Crabtree. Some of those Giants Revolution posters are still up - which tells you a lot about how much energy they’ve put into the problem over the years.
What do people in this town value? How does the club link into that? How do the club get people to participate actively, not just think of it as a cheap one off day out with the kids? How are the club planning to build a culture around this? Does the club have any concept of what being a supporter is about? Or could be about?
The actual identity of the club itself is weak, vague and not aligned with how proudly people in Huddersfield think about Huddersfield. There’s 154 proud years of history representing this town, and the club can’t even get its own founding date right on the bloody badge and barely has the word Huddersfield anywhere on its brand (look at the website).
Ask yourself - honestly - what words people who aren’t fans think of when you think of the brand “Huddersfield Giants”. I bet it would be stuff like “don’t know”, “losers”, “odd”, “nothing”, “weak”, “bottlers”, “confusing” and very, very short on words like “proud”, “community”, “representing the town”, “strong”, “exciting”, “confident”
So let’s not even start down the road of saying that KD has thrown everything at it. He’s sure thrown a lot of money at it, but most of that has been ed up a wall.

It is rugby league in general. Because the RFL and most of the clubs haven’t got a clue what they’re doing!
They’re going to tinker with the league structure again this year because - surprise, surprise - the last league restructure made no bloody difference.
Very, very few people in the game - if any - have even a glimpse of understanding of how to develop it.

no surprise murphy was top metre maker, runs the ball back strong which some people just seem to ignore.
we made too many errors in the second half
roberts made to do too much tackling just takes away his attack, needs to be coming off the bench, maybe when symonds is back he can do that

| Yes, but the Giants are on the extreme end of the incompetency scale.
If there is an SL restructure and it moves to a closed shop, then the Giants will be amongst the favourites for the chop.
And rightly so. It pains me to say it, but they bring very little to the competition at the moment. If there is a compelling case to reduce the numbers in the top flight, or replace a heartland club with a club from elsewhere, surely we’d be at the top of the list for the heave-ho
The club had its chance, had the capital to spend, but has blown it IMO
I think the future for us is back to the mid nineties as a middling fish in the small pool of the lower leagues. Away trips to Dewsbury instead of Perpignan. Revive that old rivalry with Keighley maybe.

you could put salford, widnes and wakefield as faves for a chop ahead of us if what you say was to happen. salford and widnes have less crowds than us and wakefield dont even meet super league standard on the ground.
