| Rick Stone has to play the club card a little else he will get fired!
Like posts state above, the problem is Thewlis, he seems untouchable (family friend of Davy). Stone has fought to gain some control regards signings etc.
Stone is a good guy and has done a great job turning this club around and getting us into the top 8 last year.
This season has been disappointing so far as has the style of play. I would not call for his head but something needs to happen one way or another.
Tony Smith is an obvious choice if the club decide to go that way. Although any big name target would not turn up for Thewlis to do what he is doing and the club not spend the full salary cap.

I was told he pushed on with the signings of Clough, Ferguson and Gaskell which were moves without any coach input.

| All three represented by shuttleworth, young lads in academy been told to get an agent and make sure it’s shuttleworth, that way thewlis gets them to take the deal he wants as shuttleworth is only agent he deals with unless forced to deal with someone else

| Yet if the next few performances and results continue in the same vein as thursday it’s Stone who will pay and the next man in will be left with mediocrity ( Smith Gaskell etc ) on long term deals.
For what it’s worth I agree that Stone is a decent bloke but def not a winning coach ( see his record) but I can’t see anyone decent wanting to work under the present regime. We need total change and quick

But stone has stated- more than once- that he decides who is signed not thewlis. So someone is lying. Either stone. Or the person, who told the person, who told the person, who told you.

| Can stone come out and say I don’t want that player here? He has to work with them and get the best out of them, thewlis has always signed the players, coaches have a wish list they bring to him and if they really push a player eg Mamo they get them but that’s few and far between

| From an outsider's perspective signing a bunch of players that failed with us wasn't going to help your cause.

| Quote AntonyGiant="AntonyGiant"Could be a smart idea to publicly announce Rick Stones involvement in the club won't be renewed next season though he'll be staying on to finish his contract and put himself out there for future work.
It will
A) Give Ken proper time on who will best fit the club and negotiate terms. (Not a desperate hiring)
B) Give more coaches time to put there name forward.
and
C) Give our players an incentive to put themselves on the map.. The uncertainty of who the coach is should keep them playing for a chance of first team action next year.'"
worked well when we said nathan brown was leaving at the end of the season!

| yep thewlis has more of a say than some of us think
and is very friendly with ken davy so nothing will change.
called for thewlis to go a long time ago.
i actually feel sorry for stone, comes across as a really nice bloke and over here without his wife and kids who are back home in oz cant be easy, that said if we dont make the top 8 or are out of reach at any point in the season mathematically then he has to go.. we will see how the players respond in the next few games

| I wrote this back in 2016, funny and disappointing how it is all still so relevant...
'While it's brilliant seeing how far the club's has come, it is something that many of us are fed up of hearing. I think the problem is that we build ourselves up, and probably over achieve given the finances, roster and support. But at the end of the seasons it's the same failings, despite the media hype and saying how we have learned and we will be better and won't repeat our mistakes.
I think the frustration of some comes from wanting us to take the next step, and believing that we are capable. But being let down by fundamental problems and mismanagement.
It's great how far we have come as a club, but it appears that it's a matter of time where we can no longer over achieve and other teams around us fulfil their potential, and this is frustrating, because it would feel like an opportunity squandered to really kick on.
There appears to be a split between the fans who are happy to enjoy the ride while it lasts, and those who believe we can achieve something with smarter management and persistence. To me, it's a waste of Daveys time and money to accept the former.'
If we could see this 2 years ago why can't the people who can influence it. 2 years of regression...
