Trouble with you Brearley is that you believe everything that the Clubs PR feed you. You should say "in Thewlis we trust" Stone will be like Anderson a yes man .

I have to agree with you. I believe Thewlis has a lot to do with the signings more than people think. A lot of our supporters need to wake up and stop beleiving certain players are worthy still just because they have been solid in the past.

| Quote Durham Giant="Durham Giant"According to League Express we have told Huby he can go if he can find another club.
Probably to save money on the catering bill at the club.
This to me seems a ridiculous way of doing things. I just hope he does not decide to join another club at the last minute when we cannot replace him as there is no one left.'"
Why is this a ridiculous way of doing things? We hold all the cards. He can't leave without us allowing him to-we hold his registration and another club can't take it on without us releasing him. If he leaves it too late we don't have to sell him on -he is still contracted. Have you thought perhaps Huby finds it difficult due to the environment he finds himself in having bad connotations and he may actually want to move on ....to be able to move on!

So despite a succession of coaches stating that thewlis has nothing to do with signings you still believe he does- based on what evidence????

Based on the fact that if he does not move on we are left holding a player the club have no faith in ( otherwise why tell him he can go). If he does not go quickly we will find it difficult to get someone in to replace him. Then we are left with an unhappy player. That could leave us with two unhappy props.

| For the average fan like me who has no inside knowledge of the club or know any players it's difficult to work out where the truth is in any of these rumours, so I work on a mix of what I see on the field and take a view of the running of the club from how things progress. I would hope that a coach puts forward players he wants / doesn't want and that if Huby can go then that is down to RS.
I hope to see a fit well organised team playing a decent type of rugby and a team that is together.
I do hope things change internally as it appears to me we are stagnating and as much as the playing staff needs refreshing it may well benefit to freshen the management of the club and brings new ideas.
Ken Davy talked of getting back to challenging the top, let's hope it starts next season.
Adam Walker has been mentioned here and I also like Maurice Blair at HKR

| It was Anderson who signed Huby who was playing well for Cas, but who decided on 3 year deal.? Was it Agent or Player power to get that length of deal? I don't think Anderson or Stone are involved in this detail on contracts. Now the Player is out of favour the length of contract is irrelevant is it? Contracts can be broken by the Club but not the Players. Rugby League is still stuck in a sixties time wrap and does not respect employees rites. Thewlis should accept responsibility for contract negotiations with Agents at Giants.

If we had offered a year and missed out on signing an on form player wanted by others then folk would still be moaning. Players want stability for their families. Can't blame them for that.
Coaches want stable teams can't blame them for that either. The issue is how to prevent stagnation. If it's done by offering pay per play or per win then it makes it difficult to judge salary against cap.

| Joshy Mantellato is well known to Rick Stone.
Stone plucked him out of park football and coached him through to firstgrade at the Newcastle Knights.

4 year contract. and 2 more left on his deal !!! Now that is stability , bet his Agent is smiling. Why give old Players long contracts and try and get young ones like Jake Connor on the Cheap. Does Ken never look at how deals are done at his Club.????
