Whilst there may be an over reaction here to some of the bad news we have heard over the last week the OP does have a point.
We all know that Ken Davy will not be around forever and that if the club had to survive on its current income and fan base we would be at the bottom of SL top of NL1.
To avoid this scenario we need to look at what can be done to increase our supporter base and increase club revenue so that we are less reliant on our owhers generosity.
Over the last five years our supporter base has steadily risen but it has slowed downlast season and this from jumps of a thousand into hundreds or tens. We really need to be looking at a 10,000 average within 3 years.
How will we do this
Most peoples suggestions is that we need to win a trophy. that would significantly help but is in no way guaranteed. As fans it is also out of our control to an extent
What the club and supporters need to be doing is looking at what can be done to
A increase the fan base
b Improve the match day experience to make it enjoyable for the fans
C Improve Commercial / Merchandising income.
It is success in these three areas which will determine the future of the club regardless of whether we get silverware.
These things also need to be addressed now because whilst the club is successful on the field it is more likely that we will be able to improve in the areas above. Success on the field breeds success off the field and we need to keep this moving on . If we do not build now it will be much harder if not impossible to do it if and when Ken decides to reduce his involvement.
As JFK said, '' Ask not what your club can do for you but what you can do for your club''.
