| I have been a avid RL follower and supporter of Leigh Centurions for 41 years.
I have never witnessed a better scrum half performance, at any level, that comes even close to that of Joe Mellor today.
Joe has been doing it all season and is playing the best rugby of his life - perhaps helped by Adrian Lam’s coaching involvement.
Joe is involved in directing the team around the field in attack and defence and his back up play is sheer class. When he makes a break you sure as hell need someone on his shoulder and we have this quality in abundance in the current squad.
Today was a special team performance 1-17 but we do have another guy called Edwin Ipape who is worth the admission money in his own right . This guy is very special. Today he not only made some fantastic breaks but also demonstrated his natural unselfish instinct to off load to guys better placed to score.
History was made today and I am delighted to have been part of it.

| Joe Mellor was superb today and I agree that he has been consistently very good for most of the season.
I for one, was very glad when we signed him because he was the proverbial pain in the neck when he played against us for duffers like Widnes. He was an opposing player who Leigh always struggled to contain so I was more than chuffed when we signed him.
He was rightly man of the match today but there was so much all round brilliance on display from just about everyone in a Leigh shirt.
The good news is that he is still young enough to have at least another couple of good years left in him.

If you have been watching Leigh for 41 years, surely you would have seen the performances of Ken Green in the stellar 81/2 season when he made 35 appearances against top division sides. Let’s not forget the pitiful opposition we we were playing today.

In 81/82 we also beat York at home 56-6. Now I liked the aggressive Kenny Green and he was a great servant for us but they're different generations. Joe Mellor has been fantastic all year.

| Joe's got even better with young Lachlan at his side, without doubt we have a SL half back partnership now that quite simply we have never had in the summer era

| Joe has an excellent rugby brain. With an extra yard of pace probably would have been international standard. Ken Green was one tough mon. For scrum halves AJM was in a class of his own.
