The Championship resumes initially behind closed doors, screened live on LCTV/Subscription channel. , but then is played to reduced capacity, say 1500 in LSV, to satisfy safe distancing but that means it's ST only but again is shown live on LCTV or another subscription channel.
Would you pay £30 per game to watch via subscription?

Given the cash outlay needed just to host games and make sure all players are safer/tested let alone all the ancillary staff I don't see it as a goer to begin with.

I'll set my stall out and be honest. The chances of a vaccine are minimal, so anyone thinking that is the way out of this nonsense is optimistic at best.

We can all work smart and safer but there is going to have to come a point where we all have to just say "screw it" and start living regularly again.

Much like plans I've seen proposed for pubs, I'm in the camp of returning to normalcy now/asap and just for people to be sensible; returning with a "new normal" is not for me.

I'm as season ticket holder, I don't wish to create and us and them attitude, nor do I think that only having a crowd of ST is financially viable given all the extra staff, training and measures needed to that too (this only my guess, I wouldn't have a clue on real finances).

If its going to be brought back; and I really would like it to be if only because we've got an excellent team that needs to gel further but at this early stage is great to watch, I'd prefer it online.

I think I've come to accept that nothing will really save the season, but hopefully the clubs and lives and can survive this come 2021.

So would you pay £30? if you weren't a season ticket holder - its not an us or them, it's a reality that ST's have paid already and it would cost to show it and the club would need the pay on the day fans - ps. there's not much to talk about so thought I would chuck some discussion in

Hello Maurice

Apologies if that sounded personal it was not meant to. It has indeed been quiet on here and I've had to make do with reading TotalRl and what I can only describe as the general cowed nature of the participants over there.

So yes thanks for getting something going, and it appears I may have misunderstood the jist, no I've paid for my ST so I'd like to watch online live streamed matches with no extra charge.

Seeing as LCTV is currently still free (I believe) to all, I'd hope there are enough out there that would be willing to pay for the live stuff who are those that aren't ST, but I think £30 is steep.

Allowing only ST holders in to live games as a safe distancing measure was the "us and them" I'm referring too.

Guess this comes from dereks remark on tv when he said that we had 1300 st holders and being so few the stadium could accommodate social distancing he would ask Toone to allow it.
Given the costs mentioned of putting a game on behind closed doors i dont see any real prospect of games being played. We should take what we can out of the £16 million loan.We will have to see whats left of RL when all the dust settles and the dispute between rfl/sl is resolved.

1. I think Derek said we are financially ok for the rest of the season.
2. If there was no rugby at all this season, what would ST holders expect in return? Me personally, I would relinquish any monies that I've paid. (but that is my choice).
3. If there was any rugby to be played, could social distancing be applied? In my view, yes. (ST holders only)
4. Now then, In the event of rugby being played, Live streaming is a must, (If it is possible of course), to try and get some revenue into the club.
5. I think Mo's suggestion of £30 is a bit steep,(sorry Mo,just my opinion),so let's make it attractive to subscribe to it.
6. How about £15 per Live game or £25 for 2 games?
7. I must admit.I've no idea if these prices are viable or feasible, but they look to be reasonable to a customer/fan to help keep the club healthy.

As Derek is a small business owner I'm wonder how he himself is coping at this time?

Not that I have or ever had much time for the WHO but their distancing advice is now 1 metre, think how much more flexibility that offers everyone out there.

Either way distancing is easy enough in seats, in stands, that is some effort with the gaffer tape. Logically would have to make sure no one touches the barriers. Can't really have security policing the none mixing of non-household members.

An ordered queue when leaving when the match is over...I doubt that. Polite applause as the team come over. All a bit sterile.

All or nothing for me.

With regards ST, I've written it off already. Then again after the free Batley match we got a t-shirt out of it icon_wink.gif

The £30 came from its £20+ on gameday and it could be watched by more than one fan.

When do you suggest we pay the loan back? A lot of fans keep mentioning the £16m but seem to forget its a loan

Although i get where you are coming from mo, I just don't think £30 would tempt folk, I could be wrong of course. It looks like a case of a suck it and see scenario.

If it's behind close doors why not do like Derek has suggested and get 3 games on at one ground because it would be alot cheaper on clubs and u could then set up a deal were u can pay to watch one of the games or pay a bit more to watch all 3 with the money made from steaming being shared equally between the teams that are playing,if u stream it at a small cost u never know it could even attract new fans to the game when we open up proper

I understand its a loan presumably on terms we can afford, over a reasonable period.

Rimmer seems to have negotiated it on the basis we need it, or is it the tories paying off an instalment for votes received.

I also understand you need to apply to the rl and make a case to access any funds. I would hope any monies are not going to overpaid sl players but to the areas Rimmer has identified. The alleged amount due to be paid to Inglis is ridiculous, no matter how its being paid. Are we going to see an overall reset in sports transfers/wages with the deep recession thats on its way, think we must, in the short term anyhow.
I have been pessimistic about the long term survival of rl.We have a world cup coming up and that needs to be a success. The £16M might bridge us across to that.

There is no point borrowing to pay players not to play, you might as well go tits up and start again later.
Of course the Government are responding to the North turning blue, great isn't it and just think as we get closer to the next election

The Government money is specifically for not paying wages. Anyone borrowing and then doing that would be in deep do da.

So who's paying for the required testing? Who's paying the rental for the ground? Who's paying for the cleaning protocols that need to be in place? Who's paying for transport to the ground? Who's paying for the accommodation required to isolate ALL those involved between testing and games taking place?

SL are talking about restarting in August but it would appear from comments by Michael Carter that they haven't yet thought about what procedure need to be in place nor how much it will cost despite proposing various fixture lists!
