Well I've seen it all now, I've just started a thread on the Leigh FB Banter page, basically saying that they should stop deleting threads and banning people for speaking their minds about the club or having an opinion because all that happens is that the banned person then goes onto the main RL banter page and has a go at the club. Of course this is manna from heaven for the rest of the Facebook RL fans who then delight in slagging the club off. I don't know who's running that page now but they're doing serious harm to the club by trying to control what's said and what's not.

Oh.....they deleted my post and then banned me. You couldn't make it up.

Can't you become a moderator on the Banter page?

Seriously whoever is running that page is doing more harm than good. No matter how hard you try you can never stop people from having an opinion and if you do try to stop them they'll just voice it in a different way.

The reason I made the post in the first place was because I'm sick of seeing Leythers banned off that page and then seeing them post on the main banter page; of course it's then a free for all for everyone to have a go at us. Someone at the club needs to have a word with the admin of that page to tell them to chill out and let people have their say.

It really has become a farce on there. People post a load of nonsensical rubbish purposefully to wind people up, people are stupid enough to get angry & a big argument ensues, occasionally the mods do their job & block someone, people who don't know the difference between banter & trolling complain & kick up a fuss to get the trolls reinstated, repeat until the whole thing becomes an unreadable mess. At least you can actually discuss rugby on here!

The moderators are two wet behind the ears kids, either husband & wife or brother and sister. They are hero worshippers and haven't a clue. I got kicked off after my third post for being negative.

So, I've been having a 'behind the scenes' discussion with the person who runs the group and they have apologised and un-banned me.

I won't go through the whole discussion but the gist of it is that they're 'not bothered' what other people/groups think of them; I said they should be bothered because that it the REAL opinion, not some manipulated, contrived opinion where everyone is afraid to speak their mind. I also said that as admin, they should use their real username and not hide behind the mask of 'admin'; in my opinion if you're not brave enough to front a decision up then you shouldn't be admin of anything.

Reffy ,if you mean the Harvey ,they are no longer running the Banter page, I think it is someone from the Club that runs it now, but I'm not sure.

Mish didn`t you ask a question as to why certain posters were being banned,even though a couple were Herberts.You need to have some modicum of censorship, otherwise we`ll be flooded with numpties from the wrong side of those Hills spouting cr$p.

I withdrew from the fev facebook page for the same reasons.
I don't miss it.
Every weekend there were the usual ale filled 'blood lettings', ridiculous arguments based on nowt, deliberate attempts at winding individuals up etc... I just got fed up of it. It was no longer for me.
For rugby and an occasional pizz take, these fora are just fine.
Others do have different opinions and enjoy that crapola. C'est la vie

Always going to have people who disagree but it s Gone downhill since Helen and Dean gave up running it they ran it very well , had to stop because of personal abuse though how awful is that !
