I'm sure this will bring up the usual questions of where is their money coming from with no fans and no 'home' ground. However, on the playing side this can only be a good thing for the profile of the Championship and increasing the competitiveness of the division.

| Sheffield and Halifax are guaranteed at least £500k next season for qualifying for the middle 8's. Wouldn't be surprised to hear Halifax make the same move.

Apparently not Michael, but they are going to run a reserve grade. Sheffield I think are classed as a development area?? So have access to a myriad of grants no doubt. I have noted they never reveal where their money is coming from

Wonder if they are receiving monies from the Hudds/Sheff merger.Their crowds most certainly don`t sustain them. Come on Unangelic Cynical one with your usual nonsense and bile to counteract.

| Whilst I can't stand Mark Aston I think this is great news. It can only raise the quality of the Championship

| Good on them, the more full time teams the more competitive & higher quality The Championship will be. Hope Fax follow suite (as Fev showed the danger of not doing) & London manage to stay full time.

| After listening to Mark Aston's interview,I can't help but see that this is nothing but pressure from current full time players AGENTS requiring confirmation that their clients are still full time for next season.

We are definitely not receiving money from the merger, and we never have! All money received from that either went to the 'new' Huddersfield, or directors at the time. None of the directors from the 'old' Eagles were ever involved with the 'new' Eagles.
In our first season in the Northern Ford Premiership we weren't even given a cut of the central funding.
If you wish to take a look at the Eagles accounts, you can do so online, just like you can for most limited companies in the UK.

I think Sheffield were just about full time this season so its really a bit of not news. Fax will be part time again next year but given the team we have and the addition of about 4 or 5 quality players Im hoping we can bridge the small gap that has opened up between the top 2. When you take in to account Sheffield and london been just about full time it just shows what a job Fax have done to get at least 4th.
The only problem I can see in the Championship is a gap opening up below 4th. You cant really see Fax or Sheffield been any worse next season and with less funding its difficult to see teams like london and Fev bridge that gap.

I was under the impression Sheffield had essentially a full time 13 but a part time squad, still a big advantage over the part time teams but good that they've now gone all full time. Seen that Fax have decided to spend the money on a reserves team instead, good & noble idea & I hope it pays off but a bit of a gamble, Fev spent it on the ground last year and the gamble didn't pay off.
Fax & Sheff have done really well and no doubt will be better next year. London got off to a poor start but improved towards the end, if they can stay full time I think they'll do better next year. Dewsbury seem to have been steadily growing and getting better every year. Fev, we'll have to see how missing out on the top 4 affects them but they're still a good team, have to see how a settled coach does for them. So I don't think there will be much of a gap opening up below 4th, the biggest gap will still be where it is now below 7th.
