| Any of you legal eagles out there advise me on this.
I have received a charge notice from a private parking company for a parking offence at Warrington Hospital recently.
I have genuine grounds for appeal which I won't go into here, but I have just Googled this company and I have found all sorts of advice, most of which seems to be to just ignore them. However, there are a few which say this is the worst thing I should do and I should get my appeal off straight away.
My instinct is to ignore them and brace myself for the solicitor's letters, debt collectors letters, loss of credit rating letters etc. but I'm not sure (and for sure Mrs H will not agree).
What do you lot think? Anybody experienced this situation?

| Th companys who run the Hospital Car Parks tend not to be mickey mouse ones and if it was me I would get my appeal off,you can still ignore them after if you want, but you control the events better.

Be careful in what you decide, there was a court case a couple of months ago ( www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars ... bered.html ) which ruled against the motorist.
Obviously each case is different and your grounds for appeal maybe considered valid, I received one at Wigan Hospital when my Dad died and had no problems getting it withdrawn.

| I got a service station one recently. Said i arrived at 8 on the 3rd and left at 9 on the 4th. They conveniently didn't see me leave on the 3rd at 9 and arrive on the 4th at 8. So two stays of an hour. Used screen shots from google location services to show where i had been at what time and offered 30 witnesses. Still not heard.

| I would do nothing if it was a car park attached to a shop or super market as it is not a fine in the eyes of the law but an invoice and when it comes to the crunch you challenge the invoice and offer them what you think is fair. They very rarely take you to court as they can't claim their expenses from you.

TVB, is there a difference with it being a hospital?

| Don't know mate. But if it's a private company I would take no notice. I got one and explained that two of there machine's would not take money and no shop would giver change. They just doubled the money from £60 to £120. I have ignored them for two years then a private debt collection company started sending threatening letters. I have just ignored them and they have stopped now.

| It is a private car park, so different laws apply. If a policeman or Council employee book you then you have problems, make your mitigation plea by all means but they can take you to court. The Private Land "vultures" don't have a leg to stand on, they are pirates. Don't pay, over the years I have received two such notices, I have ignored them and eventually they have eventually gone away. Like I say laws on private land differ from the highway.
Please got to Martin Money Tips, there is a section on this subject.....very interesting.

Make sure you put half a day aside to read it all though. There is about 150 pages about it.

Thanks for this l-r, much appreciated.
I've fired off my appeal (my daughter was using my car, paid the fee but entered wrong reg no) and told them I consider the case closed. If they come back again I won't be entertaining them.
