| Leigh Centurions are pleased to confirm that Kurt Haggerty has signed an extended contract to stay with the Club until the end of the 2016 season.
Haggerty, 25, is currently on a season long loan from Barrow Raiders and has signed a full-time two-year contract that commences on 1 December 2014. The son of former St Helens international forward Roy, he has been in fine form during Leigh’s record-breaking start to the season, playing a big part in the run of 15 successive wins.
Born in St Helens, Haggerty began his career with his hometown club in their Academy ranks and had a brief loan spell with Carcassonne. He made 10 senior appearances with Leigh in the 2009 season and later played for Blackpool Panthers before becoming a regular in the Widnes side. He enjoyed an outstanding season for Barrow in 2013, scoring nine tries and kicking 58 goals in 26 appearances and represented Ireland in the World Cup. He also coaches Pilkington Recs in the National Conference League.
Leigh Centurions Head Coach Paul Rowley said: “I am delighted to have secured Kurt’s services for another two years as a fully fledged Leigh player. He is a high calibre second row forward with a great skill set and attitude and he fits the style of play we aspire towards. On top of that he’s a great lad and fits comfortably into our environment. He’s a great acquisition.”
Commenting on Haggerty’s signing Centurions Head of Rugby Derek Beaumont said: “Kurt’s signing is the first of a string of announcements to be made in the next few weeks by the Club as we continue to plan for the future. It is pleasing that Kurt has the confidence in us to make a decision at such an early stage of the current season.
“Kurt is very happy at the Club and has adapted very well since joining us late and missing our preseason. He is a very talented and versatile player and I feel sure that he will benefit from being in a full-time environment next year and develop even further under the excellent coaching staff we have at the Club.”

| Kurt has been a great addition to our Squad , and impresses me with every game , though in the coming weeks some tough decisions have to be made , in my opinion after the Relegated 2 SL clubs join our ranks next season , we will have to improve maybe another 30- 50% to compete for the Top 4 places and a crack at the Bottom 4 in SL .
Im sure the BOM and Rowls realise this also ,which is why they are signing up the Core of the Squad now , for me we will need maybe another 4 additions to this Seasons squad to improve , to compete in the next level , and Arrivals will mean Exits , I have Faith in the Men in charge .
