Bob Welding is still alive and well , I have had a chat with him at my Hydrotherapy Sessions at the Gym in Wigan , as for Watts ?Do you mean Derek ?I worked with him at Sutcliffe and Speakmans around 30 years ago , he emigrated to Australia not long after .

Tommy Warburton, a tricky half back played from 68 - 70 played 68 times 18 tries 83 goals signed from Oldham, also played GB u24's and for Lancashire.

Derek Watts originated from Tenbury Wells in the Midlands answered an advertisement for players, a no nonsense prop later played for Wigan then emigrated to Oz. played 113 times 14 tries one of the Wemberleigh heros

Bob Welding tall running back row signed 1964 - 70 also played for Warrington I think, and Lancashire.

Geoff Lyon 1969 - 70 36 appearances 6 tries a back row/loose forward signed from Wigan also played for Lancashire.

You need to get hold of a 'They Played for Leigh' by Mike Latham.

Nick, maybe you can be excused for not knowing Warburton, Welding and Lyon, but DEREK Watts played No 10 for us at Wembley71

4 absolutely top notch players at a time when Leigh could beat anyone. (Lyon played most of his career at Wiggin and was Test standard at his best)
