| Congratulations to Sheffield Eagles on winning today's GF. Whatever your feelings about them, they've certainly done it the hard way from 4th spot, by beating 5th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st placed teams in the play-offs.
Their victory probably wasn't too much of a surprise mind, as they've already won at featherstone, and drawn at home against them this season! We need to try and emulate their plan, next season, and lay the Featherstone bogey.
For me, Sheffield's victory proves yet again, that there wasn't much between the top five teams in a highly competitive league.

| Very impressed with Sheffield today.
Their forwards matched Fev today. They consequently closed down the Fev's halfbacks and their fullback Toggogoggles was outstanding.
Well done.

| Thought Yere`s offload was fantastic with 3/4 players on him......great try from it. Cant argue with QLT`s try - superb catch and finish.

| Well done to Sheffield for winning the trophy , fully deserved.
Have to say though am I the only one who now thinks its time RL returned to having the Champions as the team that actually wins the most games over the actual season rather than a few end of season cup games that can be decided by late injurys or even a ref making a wrong call.
Its not as if people turn up in droves to watch the play offs anymore and we could still have a end of season competition for the Top 6 in our division and even add the Top 2 from Championship 1 (with the final at Wires ground as now) except it means the team winning that will have won a Cup and not be classed as the Champions of the league, that title being reserved for the team that did it week in week out all season.
You never know it actually might help drum up support in the regular season ?

| Well done Sheffield. Featherstone are probably the dirtiest team in the game, their captain Dickens doesnt exactly lead by example - hes a thug. He did John Duffy's eye with the elbow in the qualifying game and in the same game he booted Ostick in the head. Today he was put on report for elbowing the Sheffield wingman (who had an excellent game by the way) Dickens will meet his match one of these days - our referees should sort him before he breaks someones jaw. Featherstone's tactics when tackling leve a lot to be desired. Ill finish as I started - well done Sheffield.

| Your post started and finished OK but in the middle you lost the plot. If you want a Dickens bashing thread then start one, this one is about Sheffield's success.

We stuffed them in our (home) league game, like we do every season.

Great post and thank you for that.Im a big believer whether its us or anyone else whoever wins the league are champions IMO.But credit where its due the eagles were the best team today and deserved their victory but it makes you think why put everything into a season and finish top why not dont care and get 5th or 6th spot. But to be honest ive been very entertained by my team this season and ok we lost both finals but what have we lost realy with no promotion etc?

We did beat them heavily, after going in level at half time. In fairness to Sheffield that was a Thursday game, after they had just returned from a weekend game in France, in the Anglo-French Cup. Our other two games against them were much closer, at Sheffield. (Lost 22-23 in the NRC and won 34-32 in the Championship)

| Sheffield are a good side regardless of wether their coach is fat or thin.
Yesterday they played well and deserved their win but had we had our best side out against them I am sure we would have beat them in our playoffgame.
They took about 1000 fans yesterday who were well behaved and naturally in high spirits after the game.
Well done Sheffield who have come good at the right time of the season.
