Game stats are huge in some coaches minds and not so in others, Cliff Sumner does the game stats for Rolls as the game is ongoing but Leigh do not publish such information, as stats like the ones above are collated as the week goes on and Rolls has more time to view the game DVD on his computer (with the aid of Sportperformer - google that for more info) we did have an ongoing computer stats person who was assisting the club on match days with a state of the art system but for some reason it didn't last more than a couple of games.
Superleague clubs actually employ people to stat the game something clubs at our level cant afford, they also use OPTRA but again at a cost.
Our Dave does some stats on the game but not to that level I don't think, as they are very time consuming.
I would recommend a computer programme called LONGMATCH for any budding stats person, all's you need is a computer the game video in MPEG 1 or 2 ripped off the DVD and LONGOMATCH which is free and people can analyse and make short videos etc of any players workload per game, but of course you would need to buy a copy of the DVD
, LONGOMATCH was used last year by Neil Jukes on the reserves, and Paul Whitworth and Alan Coleman are using it for the Miners 1st team on my recommendation,
