| I'm looking forward to tonights game although, there is now a massive gulf between our teams these days I'm sure the Leigh lads will give it there best go tonight! I've seen us play Leeds in the CC on many occasions and,of course Wembley stands out above all others! In 1962 we were paired in the second round at Leigh and what a game this was, neither side took chances and the game was tense which was relected with the final score being, 7-7! in front of a crowd of 16200 at Hilton Park! (Hope Jaime Peacock reads this!!) the replay took place two days later at Leeds on a Monday night! (after the players finnished work ofcourse)
This again was a tense game and fiinished in dramatic style with Stan Owen, collecting a speculative 'up & under) to score a late try and give Leigh victory by 17points to 16points! the crowd at Headingly was 26000
sadly we didn't go on and win the Final a poor showing at Featherstone in Round 3 put paid to that
I hope its a great occasion tonight and its great to have a Club like Leeds as visitors to the LSV

| I was at that Fev game and I think we lost 23-9.
Brian Brooks played with a broken toe and a Fev half back Ivor Lingard tore us apart.
British Rail (as it was then ) put on a special train from Leigh Railway Station and over 4000 Leigh fans were at Featherstone that day in a crowd of 11000.

| I can still see Dave Eckersley dummying for a drop goal before he jinked his way to the try line at Wembley and I was stood behind the sticks to get a great view of it. Brilliant memories!!!

I was on that train too, come to think of it, all the town were on it
Lingard's halfback partner that day was Don Fox who was, destined to become a Wembley legend for his missed conversion under the sticks against, Leeds!

| My most treasured possession is a picture of my Mum who was a nurse in 1971 (and has recently retired), pictured holding the Challenge cup when it was brought to Leigh Infirmary to show the patients. Good luck Leigh for tonight cant wait.

I think Leeds had a chance to win the game Lewis Jones missed a touchline conversion attempt in the last minute.I remember being there I think we went straight from school

| I remember going from Atherton station with over 100 skinheads from Leigh and district what a day I had the trip down the match and going around London with the lads after the match what a film it would make..Did,nt get back to Atherton until 8 am after the train got stopped several times after the emergency cord kept being pulled and the cops getting on with the dogs , someone locked me in the secure area cage in the parcel van the cops where going mad because they could,nt find the key to let me out , My mate Don Rowley I think it was who threw the key out of the window when I fell asleep in the cage but he always says it was,nt him must have been Peety then or Kev Carter lol
