| In 1982 Leigh beat Whitehaven to become RFL Champions. Thousands of fans made the midweek trek up to Whitehaven to watch Leigh clinch the title with a 13-4 win.
I can't believe it's 30 years ago - my God, doesn't time fly.  |

Four of us hired a car from Cooke Bros in Atherton and thrashed it up to Haven after work for the KO (non of us wanted to do it to our own!) - I drove there and back as I was the sober one in them days - stopped at a pub somewhere just out of Haven and the supporters coach (well one or two of them there were plenty) stopped too - celebrations all round - Happy Day's

| Was an apprentice back then and got docked a half days pay (my boss back then was a crust muncher) but boy was it worth losing half a days pay to rub in it the next morning  he gave me s"£$e jobs for a week but it didnt wipe the smile off my face |

I finished work at dinner, meet up with Starbug and we also was on the convoy of coaches and what a day we had.
Still didnt feel like it did, when we bet Haven to win promotion to SL, what a game that was, a roller coaster ride from start to finish, went through every emotion going that day.
Seems like Haven play a big part in our history.
Last match at Hp also.
