I know this wont go down well with a few on here, but i feel a massive rap must go to these two. The team yesterday looked fit, organized, passionate and exciting, you could tell they wanted to play for them both and have done a fantastic job in very trying circumstances. Infact there could be a strong case to give these two the job save x amount of pounds on bringing over an overseas coach and plough that money into making the squad larger and stronger. Whats everyone think ???

Well they have obviously prepared the squad well but like has been said' lets see how we go against Fax.

I was terrified of Paul taking charge after last time and his reputation, but because of the above, the backs against the wall spirit created and the influence of Jukes I would run with these two and bring in a sales/marketing man because this is where we are aweful - notice I put sales then marketing.

We looked great yesterday, early days like Ste said, but if we play with that passion in the league and lose would anyone complain? I know I wouldn't.

I remember RHP saying that last year when Paul Rowley was fitness coach he hadn't trained so hard. I think and hope that Rowley's reputation he had when he was a player is going away and a new more mature older coach has learned a lot of lesson from the mistakes and trials and tribulations he had.

I have to say if play like that continues I also see no reason for a new coach and I have been a fan who would not have been happy with Paul as head honcho. I don't know what goes into the everyday running of a team like ours. Who deals with the players contracts, who deals with the players availability for stuff other than playing, who deals with sorting kit out and so on. But if the money can be used to sort this out and leave Paul and Neal to putting a team on the park that plays like that every week lets have it.

Wasn't it suggested on here that the recent advert for a General Manager was pointing us in that direction - ie Rowls/Jukes in charge of first team, with someone else mopping up all the day-to-day stuff.....and that the anticipated antipodean appointment* won't now happen??

I suppose that will be the $64k question come the next fans forum!!

Agreed, well done to Paul and Jukesy for handling pre-season so well under such trying circumstances. The players looked eager, well drilled, coherent and very fit. As has been said it may be too early to make a decision after just 1 game but if we put in another impressive display against Fax I wouldn't mind if they were given a shot at the job.

And if they aren't they will have provided the new coach with a great team thats fully fit and raring to go, which is exactly what we needed in such trying conditions.

I think another important factor is that from what i hear off a few of the players is that they would be more than happy if Rowley and Jukes are left in charge, which I think is fantastic!

I reckon we could field a team just from the Leigh lads in our squad tho, and not a bad one at that......its great for the club, the town and the fans!!

I am all for reinvesting the money saved on a "general Manager" in some depth to the squad though!!

Apparently the GM will be working for the LSV as well so a portion off his salary will come from the LSV I think

iN THE LEAGUE EXPRESS THIS MORNING Paul Rowley has expressed his interest in becoming the coach.
