| The West stand holds just short of 3k (I think). Swinton are just opening this stand when they play home games at the LSV next season. It will be cheaper for them to rent this one stand than they paid for the Willows last season. So if it does indeed hold 3000, would it not be prudent for Leigh to just open the one stand next season? Looking at last seasons attendances we managed to break the 3000 barrier on one occasion when Widnes visited, the next closest attendance was 2633 at home to Sheffield in the league. Next seasons team will not be as strong so the floating (I only watch good teams) supporters won't be turning up next season so in theory our attendances will fall. It just doesn't make financial sence opening two stands when we can't fill one. This would surely save the club 10's of thousands of pounds. Less stewards, less catering staff etc.

| I sincerely hope not as it would completely kill the enjoyment of being stood around the same people every week, and having to sit down and having people spread out all over the place wouldn't exactly help build any atmosphere either.

They would quickly congregate in a prefered area together after a couple of games. Sitting down doesn't stop the fans creating an atmosphere when they visit all seated stadiums like at Widnes, Sheffield and dare I say Blackpool.

Just an off the cuff remark. I would imagine it would be a significant sum though.

The day that Sheffield is cited as having a good atmosphere is the day we might as well give up!

The Leigh fans created a good atmosphere among themselves. That's the point everyone all together, sat down in one stand. It can be done. You don't need to stand on a terrace.
The overwhelming advantage for the club is that it will save them money, which is what we all want as fans.

| I sat in the West stand for one match only ,that was for the first friendly in the snow with the dreaded piemen, and found myself constantly on my feet trying to see past the idiots who insisted on walking past me to buy beer, buy food ,use the toilet ,or just bloody annoy me, so much so that I asked Andy to change my season ticket to the North Stand where I have been ever since ,I will not be attending matches in the West stand I am afraid,

But with the stand likely to be at least 75% full, so the empty spaces would be dotted about all over the place and would mean groups would struggle to get seats together. I'm not convinced there would be a huge saving either as it would only be the leccy and maybe a dozen stewards that the LSV would charge us for?

....and this is the reason why it is so difficult to have a professional rugby league club in the town of Leigh. There is something in the water that makes some of us like this! The towns folk take their ball home at the slightest thing and hold a grudge for decades. I can just imagine that you really would do this as well!

Well said that man - it's getting ridiculous the excuses people give for not attending. People will go away and sit in one stand (and pay the opposition for the privilege of doing so) and then refuse to do it home.

| Well although I would not go as far as Peawapp but if I could not stand behind the sticks I would not be happy.
FWIW TB did say it would save money though at the last fans meeting but to attract new people through the turnstyles we do need an atmosphere at games and you West Standers are a bit quiet.

| Maybe we need to see figures of what it costs to open the terrace as well as west stand compared to just the west stand, and then make a judgement. I know i never want us to be in this postion again and if for next season whilst we get back on our feet it costs alot less to open just the west stand, surley it makes common sense to do so. Christ last night we thought the club had gone for good, and now someone makes a very worthwhile suggestion about running the club within our means ( even if only next season ) and it causes uproar on here from people who i know are home and away speccies like myself, but where last night faced with having no team to watch at all next and every other future season. If and i mean if it helps the club get back on an even keel then surley it makes absoloute sense to do it and at least we still have a club to support and watch, does it really matter where we watch it from....imo of course.
Cheers wayne
