After a welcome victory last Friday night against Wigan St Judes, Miners will be looking to build on last weeks performance but know they still need to improve as a team and up their completion rate if they are to come away with the two points. Egremont have made a decent start to the short season with three victories and two defeats, the most notable wins being against local rivals Wath Brow Hornets & NCL Champions Thatto Heath Crusaders.
Leigh Miners A team are at home to Rochdale Mayfield A in the NCL North West Alliance League, Kick Off 2-30pm at Twist Lane. Both teams have 100% records going into the fixture having won their opening two matches.

| Egremont Rangers 22 v 22 Leigh Miners
Leigh Miners returned home from Cumbria last night with a point after a 22-22 draw with Egremont Rangers despite playing twenty minutes of the second half with twelve men after having two players sin binned. The home side started the brighter and with playing down the hill they were putting the Miners defence under a lot of pressure, they were rewarded with a try to the right of the posts to give them a 6-0 lead. Miners responded with a try from a tap penalty, Loose forward Martin Lewis breaking the line to send Leon Brennan into score to give the score 6-4. Egremont opened up an eight point gap after some good work by the hooker and scrum half to send them in for their second try. Ryan Smith got Miners within two points before the break after darting over from close range, Tom Bradbury converting to give the half time score 12-10 in favour of the home side.
Leigh Miners took the lead for the first time early in the second period when Ryan Smith cut through the defence from half way to send u18s centre Ryan Monaghan into score his first try for the first team, Bradbury converting to give the score 16-12. Egremont levelled the score at 16-16 with a try in the right corner with over a quarter of the game remaining. Miners were reduced to twelve men when Leon Brennan was sin binned for dissent but that didn’t seem to affect Miners, they were next to score with arguably the try of the match, with some good go forward down the left the ball was shifted right to allow Ste Kenny to finish off a good attacking move to put the visitors four points in front at 20-16. With only a couple of minutes or so remaining of the Brennan sin bin Miners had their second player Kieran Dainty sent to the bin for lying on. The visitors worked hard in defence but with a good number of penalties being awarded to the home side they drew level for a second time in the second half to tie the game up at 20-20. From the kick off Miners were back in front after being rewarded a rare penalty under the sticks, Egremont moving off the mark at the play the ball to allow Tom Bradbury to tap over a simple penalty goal, An Egremont penalty goal was added soon followed by a couple of missed drop goal attempts there was no further score as the game finished tied at 22-22.
