Try Tag Rugby is proud to announce that the first North England competition will be launched in Wigan on the 4th of October.
The new competition will take place at Wigan St.Patricks ARLFC and will run on Monday evenings for 7 weeks duration. Registrations are now open for the Men’s & Mixed divisions.
Wigan Warriors stars, Sam Tomkins & Cameron Phelps have thrown their support behind the new competition and believe Tag Rugby will really take off in Wigan.
Sam Tomkins commented, “For whatever reason, some people can't play Rugby League at an amateur level. It's a big commitment to train twice a week and play on weekends, and some people don't have the time. Or maybe they're knees aren't up to it anymore, or they can't risk being injured because of their jobs.
"Playing Tag Rugby is great because people can get all the enjoyment of playing, without risking injury."
Cameron Phelps added, “Tag Rugby is a game for everyone. Males, females, young & old. It’s great for your fitness and plenty of fun! It's also a great off-season training tool for Rugby players.”
Tag Rugby is a hugely popular adult sport in both Australia and Ireland where well over 100,000 are registered participants play the game. The game is similar to Touch Rugby, the nature of removing a tag rather than just making a touch makes for a more slower and more skillful game. Unlike touch the ball is allowed to touch the ground and kicking below head height is allowed the first and last two tackles.
Team registration for the Wigan competition is £250 per team & £28 per individual. If you would like to register to play in the only current Tag Rugby league in Greater Manchester, please click on the team or individual registration links on the right hand side of
