He's no good - the lad is huge but couldn't bust through a wet paper bag. He was crap at Wigan, he was crap here, and christ knows why Saints then signed him. Predictably, he was crap there as well.

| Think it's going to take a lot to top Limoux, Sheffield and even Toulouse, to be honest. Last night was just another in a long list!

| I hope not, Since it was one of our worst.
Leigh Did the basics right and set a great Platform with their Forwards. But once Widnes sorted themselves out down the middle and stopped falling for that Drop off pass from your forwards then you looked easy enough to neutralize in the second half.
Look at it this way, Widnes were absolutely shocking in the first half. And Leigh should have put us to bed with ease, Im almost certain Fax would have been 40 up on us at the break with their attacking options. Leigh were great at what they did, Worked hard and had options.
In the second Widnes looked comfortable with Leigh and had managed to shore up the field defence. We looked More Dangerous and that despite a pack that was getting bitch slapped. But and this is where you are very good, your defence was superb. As in the above comment where Fax would have scored more against that first half performance its also true that they would have shipped far more points when we came back at you.
It was a good performance from your lot, but your best?

That would be the same Halifax that only scored 10 points against us on their own patch, whilst we scored 48 of our own, wouldn't it?

| For a whole 80 minutes it has to Halifax, but the first 40 last night was almost flawless. Maybe we eased off in the second half with one eye on Tuesday Let's face it the game was won by half time. The Widnes fan should also remeber that we finished far stronger than them.

Said the same myself, we took several sets early in the second half were our forwards never got involved in attack, we even had the big boys on the subs bench.

Again you have to take what im saying into context. Our first half performance was Dire last night, As bad as if not worse than our first half against Toulouse a few weeks back. Leigh should have put the game to bed before the half time hooter, its less a criticism than an observation.
Your main strength this season is your defence, and a great pack. Fax cant play behind a beaten pack, hence you giving it to them in such a fashion.
In the second half Widnes looked the better team and we still played crap. Again it was your Solid Defence that stopped us while your attack offered little. That was no complete 80 minute performance.
I was only commenting that surely is not your best performance of the season, i dont attend Leigh games with any regularity but was pretty Certain your Fax and Toulouse games were better?

| Agree that it's way down the list in terms of our best performances, but I think you're distorting it a little in terms of the Widnes performance, as you were only on top for a maximum of twenty minutes at the start of the second half. Thought that we certainly finished the stronger side. Looking forward to seeing the DVD though.

| I watched the replay on Sky today and we were as bad as i thought if not worse in that first half. In the second we attacked the ptb area and gave you some real problems, then when thackery got into the game and found some room you struggled to cope. Your try in the second half killed our chances and the last 18 or so minutes was more an arm wrestle in the middle with Widnes for some reason continuing to give the ball to our forwards on our last plays. Than it was one of Leigh taking over again.
It was a good win for you guys and you are Rightly top of the pile, But the league wont look like this come the end of the season and neither will either of our starting 13's

| Our starting 13 will look much the same, Widnes were not allowed to play and in the second half just like a number of your games this year you came out attacking strong, Thackery is a one trick pony and we stifled his inside balls, Webster is a poor imitation of his HKR days but then he has never played well against us.
Stop the ball going wide to your main threats and you stop Widnes, that was obviously worked on and worked on well, that plus we do not have a fixed game plan where as Cullen uses the same old same old on every occasion, he is too one dimensional in his coaching and it is starting to show in him not having the same talent he had in SL.
We are NOT a great attacking team but are good at what we do and do it (so far consistently) well, I have bemoaned the lack of completion rates in our previous two games this was tightened last night especially in the 1st half, but it was certainly not our best performance of the season that was at Halifax.
And before anyone asks yes I have seen a great number of Widnes DVds this and last year.

Your starting 13 will probably look differently thanks to injuries. Its the way the game is, atm you have been lucky with injuries and we have been unlucky. At the tail end of the season you may hit a bad patch with injuries and Widnes may get most of theirs back. Swings and roundabouts.
And you are being a tad harsh on thacks, for starters his main threat is when he attacks the line and he gave you problems with that last night. But i would agree that his inside balls are getting a little easy to read, i would also agree about webster but he is still a great distributor but Widnes seem to lack Runners in almost every single play. Watch Leigh attacking and there are multiple Runners, Watch Widnes and the man set to receive the ball is the only one moving.
I dont think Leigh have a better team than Widnes, But they are currently being coached better and playing far better as a unit. Maybe Widnes will improve here when we can get a settled 17.
