Things need to improve quite a bit if we are going to compete and finish in the top half of the division.

Basil's got his work cut out on what we have shown so far, granted we have a few missing, but its hardly been encouraging has it?

Ignore the friendlies, the real stuff barely even began today. Room for improvement, of course, but the seeds of encouragement were there today with how quickly we shifted the ball out wide at times.

Agreed Matt. I can see us improving. Just starting to get worried about injuries though now.

Nowt we can do about injuries, but at least it'll give a bit of gametime to some fringe players which might come in handy later in the season.

New players comin in on dual con will improve team esp with injury situation

I've said the same myself before although we need our players back free from injury Cunniffe & Ainscough should flourish

Anybody predicting or expecting it to be easy this year was a few butties short of a picnic , in big Barries own words you dont have to be a rocket surgeon to work that out

Playing any team in those conditions with a poor ref and without a front row would be difficult.
I am encouraged, and feel that with a front row putting the opposition on the back foot we will do well.
Our fitness and enthusiasm are first class, we move the ball well left to right, something we havent done for a few years.
Roll on the day we can offer Nash, Bibey, Hill and Meekin in the 17.

Great to see a Leigh coach actually on the touchline giving out instructions during a game.Call me old fashioned but much prefer this than the coach being in the stand relaying mesages to water carriers etc.

On the team I'm not too worried as the defence looks better organised and we do look like we have some moves in us.Need the props back though and the injury jinx just goes on from one season to another,but that could be said by many RL teams at present, bigger strong lads hitting each other at pace will result in injuries.

Whats the betting Basil returns to the stand once Rowls is 'back', for thats where he used to be.
