Please don’t take this as having a go in anyway whatsoever it’s my simplistic view and a few questions from a current non-member.

LISA, it’s a group of loyal supporters, who organise a few fund raising activities but most members appear to just pay £5 per month. LISA hand that money over to the club to help pay a player, which must help the club greatly and in return, they have a monthly meeting where they expect a club rep/player/coach to attend and tell them what’s going on. And they organise coaches for away travel.

I consider myself a loyal fan, so why am I currently not a member? Well because I’m already a member of the lottery and have been since day one, so I already pay £104 per year, I know not all that money goes to the club and that I could be in both. I’m also personally not really that bothered about hearing what players do in training, etc. Nor do I need to travel on the coaches. So overall up until now I’ve never really felt the need/desire to join, and if I wanted to give the club an extra £5/mth I could just increase my lottery, as both lots of money end up in the same pot anyway.

So rightly or wrongly that’s my simple take on things, but I have decided I am willing to pay an extra £5/mth, and will probably join LISA but before I do I have a few questions.

Wasn’t something like the following posted a while back? where they considered by the current membership, and if so what were the answers?

With the Salary Cap now in place, Corporate Club, etc. is directly giving this money to the club to fund a player the best option for LISA or even the club?
Is it being done simply because LISA has always just give the money to the club?
Would directly employing an accountable marketing person, not be a more worthwhile?
As this would now be outside of the Salary cap, how many additional people would the club need through the gate to replace the lost income from LISA?
Does LISA currently raise sufficient funds to employ Marketing person?

The aim of LISA is to raise funds for a player or players, simples, membership money isn't raised for any other use.

Thats why I,m a member and it follows therefore more members more money more money better players.

Fans can,t expect AT to do it all on his own. He is doing a marvellous job and all I can do is contribute my fiver in the hope that it helps.

I,d just like to add that the amount of work LISA,s chairperson and the committee do is nothing short of phenomenal.

With 10 times the membership LISA could do so much more.

Believe it or not that’s why I’m asking.
All I’m saying is should/has it been looked at in a different way, to me any increase in LISA membership will only come from current supporters, what the club and LISA needs now is new additional supporters. And could/should LISA help the club to achieve this?

To try and explain where I’m coming from lets say without increasing our fan base, we currently have 1000 individual supporters (excluding same family wife/spouse, kids, those who can’t afford it. etc), who could potentially become members, of those 500 are already members and the other 500 join that’s an extra £30,000/yr divide that by the number of league games that’s £3000 per match.

If a marketing person increased attendances by 1000 (I’d expect more), on a gate price of say an average of £10 that’s £10,000 per match, which should make up for the short fall in not having the current LISA money plus some.

I know it’s not quite as simple as that, and my numbers may be way out but to me more at LSV means more money for the club, possible increase in shirt sales, more potential LISA/Lottery members, etc.

So to me this is the area everyone with an interest in Leigh Centurions should be focusing on.

I thought that the person funded by the RFL was to try and help clubs increase revenue from sponsorship/businesses and the like, not via bums on seats.

More 'pennies in the pound' from Lisa will find thier way into the club than any other source of income.

The lottery has to pay winners, ticket sales goes towards LSV. Pies and pints go to some franchise company.

£5 a month, around a quid a week.....and every single penny helps the club. Come on folk you know it makes sense. icon_wink.gif

I re-joined up a couple of months ago. I did consider just doubling my Lottery flutter but felt LISA deserved my support.

Every penny goes to the fund for players, not partially paid out to a lucky win (who wont be ME!) and also there is the community aspect of being part of the team (even though I cannot attend meetings for obvious reasons)..

PLus LISA itself is a vehicle for raising more money than just the fiver a month, and can also be a rallying point for supporters (e.g. getting coaches to Gateshead).

I also think having a healthy supporters club is itself good publicity and shows the vibrancy and support for the club that there is..

Just my 2 cents..

I understand all that, and that’s why I said my numbers may be out, as I don’t know how much the club actually gets from gate receipts, but I could counter argue that the more home games we play is even more income, were as using the LISA calculation as a match average would be reduced, but that’s just playing at sums. icon_wink.gif

The main thing is how do we get more people to LSV/increase revenue, if we already have someone great, tell them to pull their finger out and get on with it.

If we don’t, would it be in the interest of all concerned for LISA to employ someone to do it?

kcab sfrawdder Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg

The main focus of the club should be not just to get more ' bums on seats ' , it should be to fill the stadium , yes that is correct , I said

Fill the stadium

Until the stadium is full for every game the club is underachieving

Now the 1 st part of that will hopefully start with a return to attractive attacking RL under our ' new ' coach

Then you have to get the people of the town in to see it

Then you need to convince enough of those people that they have been entertained and get them to want to pay to be entertained again

Simple really icon_wink.gif ahhhh the drinking tent). AT was stood outside the stand near the exit and fans obviously approached him questioning what's going on and looking for answers etc etc, and considering AT had invested a lot more than anyone else he was rational calm and hid his own I'm sure disappointment trying to answer all the fans that had surrounded him their questions about what was going on without any sign of wanting to get away. The ones that was there will vouch about this.
What a tremendously nice genuine man he is, and all the more reason to take some of that monetary burden away from him by contributing in whatever way you can. The man is going that extra extra mile, by giving the fans what they want - Ian Millward with a very competitive squad.
