| - at the enemies of Leigh who are laughing at our relegation and quite happy for a French club to stay up at our expense.
- at the RFL for designing the rules in such a way that we did not play on a level playing field in relation to Gateshead and Toulouse, and also apart from the direct impact on us, they are making this great game a gimmick ridden farce.
- at fate, who dealt us a bad hand so often with so many results going against us with other clubs
- at the board of Leigh RLC who gambled on not spending money this year so they could splash out next year - great plan that was wasn't it?
- at the fact that relegation was, in a sense, unnecessary - we weren't, Barrow aside, getting hammered each week, we were just a few points of the play-offs, and we probably had the players to stay up.
- because Ian Millward will have really wasted a year of his contract, in the sense that we could probably win the division without him. He will be in a no win situation. If we win every game comfortably it will be because of the opposition. No matter how well we do in the League next season, unless we do well in the Cups there will be no way to measure our progress.
- because I honestly do not know whether the people of Leigh will support the club through the next year - they have not supported the club that well this year - of course the diehards have and always will - I am talking about those who used to come but do no longer.
However, I suppose that all of this needs to be put in the past and we need to look forward with optimism no matter how misplaced it might be!
We need to set a target of going through the League unbeaten, averaging 50 points a game. It will be quite a challenge to win the NRC, particularly as we may have a tough group and Ian will not have worked with the players for that long.
I just hope that we are still able to sign the calibre of players we were going to anyway (and the RFL gives us a dispensation) and that the fans do not desert the team and we are left with crowds of 1000-1200.
Even better, the RFL gives us a break for once and somehow keeps us up. I think though that they will enjoy seeing where we are.
On a final note - its time for the Rowleys to bow out and let someone else have a go.

| What I can say about this is, winning breeds winners. Next year we will have a good young squad already blooded into pro rl. With IM behind them these lads will only get better and by winning all the time their confidence will be sky high. Look at our confidence levels when we knocked salford out of the challenge cup and came close to doing it to Warrington. If IM had stayed with us and Mickey Higham and others had stayed we would be right up there now. Not just blaming Ian and Mickey but they were the first and only two that came to mind quickly. We have a very good nucleus for a good squad. Give the boys next month off then get the ones that are staying back in as soon as IM steps off the plane.
I am really looking forward to next season.

Did we?
I think it's more of a case of the RFL demanding.

Your are correct (though rude and uncouth). We will get on with it, I am sure, to the discomfort of people like you.

So easy to say when looking over the fence from what you perceive as a nice place
If you do not accept the rules then what?

As you got relegated on points differnce you may want to question that one a bit!

| I don't blame you for being angry. Far too often teams like Leigh, Widnes, Cas etc get screwed by the RFL at the expense of a nonsense club that for some reason are given special benefits.
A strong Leigh in the Championship is far better than a plastic French side that doesn't bring anything to the game.

Fred
That wasn't the point I was making. We may have spent the same money as last year but it was clearly not enough - compared to Barrow for example and no doubt others. Then suddenly we have the money to sign a few decent players and a coach. I know we have the new consortium or whatever their name is that came midway through the season which has contributed to that.

not quite sure what your point is there - look at the league table, there wasn't much in it was there, even for the most blinkered viewer?
