Leigh east were the 1st team invited but the miners coached was told that due to holiday commitments you were short of players.

Yes of course thats really disappointing ah well never mind will have to make sure the right people get the right invite.

I stand to be corrected but has it not become traditional that Miners and Easts 12's going up to Under 13's always play for the Fred Hilton Trophy prior to the Super Cup final or must they be invited accordingly?

I am sure If I was the coach at East I would have been enquiring myself knowing when the event usually takes place and wanting to secure a competitive pre season friendly with the opportunity of a bit of silverware at the end of it.

Permission for this traditional curtain raiser was given at the NW Counties 13-15's meeting on 5th August and is minuted rlhererl.

There was a representative from Leigh East at the meeting who could have checked beforehand what had caused the apparent confusion.

I'm sure, and no disrespect to Shevvy here, that Miners too would have much preferred an all Leigh derby but, obviously, believed that East were unavailable and subsequently found alternative opponents.

Sometimes these things are just simple misunderstandings.
