i could not believe my eyes last night, i was in the trafford centre shopping when i seen a big crowd of people gathering round someone, and low and behold they was gathering round jamie smith, all the girls were getting photos with him and he was signing autographs

jamie is my favourite player down at leigh, so i got a picture with him and got his autograph, it was truly amazing.

jamie was a model professional and an amazing gentleman who took the time out too talk too all his adoring fans

i asked him how does he think the season will pan out and he simply said 'dont worry about a thing, we are sure too kick start our season next weekend and we will be in the grand final come the end of the season, so next year mr. millward (that is what he called him) will have a good squad too work with

he is a very well spoken lad and seems very well educated. you should be very proud mr and mrs smith. you son will become a leigh legend and goo down in history!

Yeah Jamie came across as a really nice guy last night. Took the time to speak to all the fans and was very positive in everything he did. It was a pleasure to meet him and I think that he will go far in the game with a talent and attitude like that.

So let me get this right - there was a young Leigh player doing a bit of shopping at the Trafford Centre, but he was being mobbed by adoring fans?

icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

I've seen Sami Hyypia at the Trafford Centre with no-one batting an eyelid, Ken Barlow I've seen there as well. Ex-Brookie babe Jennifer Ellison has in the past been a regular around Widnes without too much trouble. I also saw Boudewijn Zenden in Liverpool city centre, and few kids were asking for photos, but certainly no mobbing.

Are you sure he wan't being mistaken for somebody else?

As he is a dam sight better looking than all of those and has the higher status of being a Leyther - it's probably true icon_lol.gif

I was once looking through the window of Netto to see how the lower order live and saw some Widnes players in the same situation as young Jamie. The reactions were different though.

Lee Doran stiff armed a seven year old for having the cheek to ask for his autograph. Toa Kohe Love couldn't lift the pen for fear of injury. Iain Morrission was mistaken for the retired Steffi Graff but gave an autograph anyway whilst the local vicar mobbed a confused Mark Smith. The vicar, later questioned by the security guards said "well, i've seen the face of Jesus Christ on toast and tea towels but see to God himself in Netto - i couldn't pass up the opportunity to shake my bosses hand". Paul Cullen was also in there - telling people the best method of shopping for goods which aren't in an orderly fashion on the shelves but somehow the message got lost in translation as several people were hitting him with packets of broken biscuits.

[i:5a56um9q]Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play. It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfulness, disregard of all rules and sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence. In other words, it is war minus the shooting.[/i:5a56um9q] [b:5a56um9q]George Orwell [/b:5a56um9q] [i:5a56um9q]There are none so blind as those who will not see. kcab sfrawdder Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg

Bolton by birth, Irish by blood, LEYTHER by heart and soul!!
30/04/06 "Some of W*gan's travelling fans headed towards the exit before it was even over.".................no change there then!![/quote:suio7kr3]
.....They are our people. As a Leyther, you’re one of us the moment you come here to wear the shirt. I don't care where you were born, what colour you are, what religion you are, what language you speak. You're one of us, part of our culture, writing our history as you create your own, and making us stronger for it....[/quote:suio7kr3]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10303.jpg
