| Just wondering if the timing of the Millward announcement has made any sense
I actually thought the club would have turned the corner realise its potentials and build on this announcement - I havn't seen it happen.
So why announce such a big signing (and it was a big new item covered in the dailys as well as the local press) and not build on it, would we have been better waiting until mid season or at least keep it fresh in the RFL's mind come franchise negotiations
After all if your Paul Rowley and you get told Millward is coming then you are (rightly) going to think "less than brilliant" of the club (especially considering the games he had upto that point).
Tonights results will have fingers pointing at Paul Rowley (and he's in a results business so no arguments really), however for me the fingers should be pointing further up the "tree" at Leigh.
Our Chairman and board seem totally inept at managing a club, sure they know how to put money in (and no-one is denying without the finance just how bad things would be) but actually running the club is something that has been lacking at Leigh for a while IMO, The potential is huge, the lost opportunitys countless.
Tonights result is the one for me that confirms we are down, the coach will carry the can , I wonder though do our board / directors also need to be accountable - after all its a serious of poor decisions that see us heading down the leagues after being one of the shining lights so recently.

| You are right in your logic. The reason for the timing of the Millward anouncemen,t in my opinion. was to deflect tcriticism away from the Gateshead debacle. Which has now been surpased!

I don't "stick up" for anyone, Leigh can't allow for favouritism and the easy ride whoever it is , equally I don't have a axe to grind with individuals at the club.

| I don't think Paul Rowley has done anything to even warrant any position on the coaching staff. Utter shambles!!!!
What input can he possibly have seeing as since his appointment the team have probably gone from bad to worse with no positives in our playing standards whatsoever.

| I noticed in yesterdays programme that Paul Rowley made a point that a new coach coming in was disturning one or two players and taking peoples eye off the ball(he then went on to say about how they need to start performing etc).
The club could really do with getting everyone focussed on THIS season and concentrating on putting all our efforts into staying up before looking at next year, after all we honestly have no idea what league we will be in

Rowley is IMO obviously going to say that.He also needs to point the finger. Its human nature.
As said in previous posts the return of millward could have been done in so many ways.
Introduce millward and promote the fact all over leigh to attract new fans and get some interest in the the club
Introduce millward and tell the players they need to show what they are worth for a place next season.
Leigh introduce millward, dont go all out to promote, tell the players they need to show their worth. The team faces other teams that are going all out for a superleague franchise,we sit back and the teams heads go down. The team then think what the hell am i playing for here when we wont be here next season anyway!! catch 22!
Personally i am not going to sit back and watch our team/club go down the swanny!! so what i will do as a FAN is go down to the next game and support/shout for the team that we have NOW.If millward is watching these lads then lets get their heads back up and show him what we are made of.
This town has a proud and strong rugby league history which we should all do our very best to preserve!!

..... and I'll be standing in the Hilton Park stand, yes that's right I've named the North Stand myself: |
|
| Rowley makes some good points but the players should be playing for their futures unless some of them are resigned to the fact that they don't have one.
He isn't at fault for where we are now lets be honest. This all started a few years back with the fallout from the sacking of Tony Benson and other staff then leaving the club. I don't feel we've ever really recovered from that and the board have made some poor choices in terms of personnel both in the coaching and playing staff.
All that said the time has come for all concerned to pull together for this last push to stay up. We really cannot afford to get relegated so fingers crossed the players can summon up that famous "Leyther" spirit to get us through.

YOU CAN LEARN FROM THE PAST BUT NOT RELIVE IT.YOU CAN HOPE FOR THE FUTURE BUT CAN NEVER BE SURE THERE WILL BE ONE.: |

Are all the players on 2 years or more then? I can`t see the players being unsettled about the return of Millward sounds to me like Rowley giving excuses. Surely most of these players would be moving on anyway wouldn`t they, even if Rowley was staying as Head Coach he would not be keeping them would he?

Dont forget the wheeels fell off when Paul felt he needed to retire as a player, he was player/asst coach, he should have left then as we needed quality to replace him and we never have.
He should have been told go get a job and learn your trade in the academy or amateur ranks.

| Will the Robbie Paul signing inspire the players to actually keep us in this division
Our clubs leaders must be confidant that Leigh will stay up as the focus is certainly on signings not survial.
