Well on balance it looks like it was offside.

When you review a lot of the contraversial decisions Childs made he does seem to be justified with some of them.

Now I know he got a bad reception but we have to remember we may get him again this season.

On reflection, it took only one incorrect call to rob us of the match (or at least a chance at the "Golden Point"icon_wink.gif. Maybe he got the other 3 right but......

What this guys gives is strange decisions at strange times that no other refs appear to give which confuses ans, players and coaches of both teams.

He is either top class or top clown.

I honestly don't believe he's 'bias' towards any teams, he's just incompetent. He let's blatant penalties go and then blows up when there's a vague chance that there was a foul. I don't think it's a co-incidence that the games where the fans/coaches have gone mad it was the home team that felt robbed.

I remember the first game he reffed with us involved. It was at Fev in a NRC tie they got the penalty count something like 24-4.

I really can't subscribe to the theory that Mr Child cost us the game. I think he had a poor game, and seemed to mystify the players (all of them) quite a lot. He seems to enjoy seeing teams under pressure, near their own line, by often awarding three decisions one way, followed by three the other!

I thought each side was awarded a controversial try, (Goulden's and Stacul's) so that balanced out.

In all honesty, what I thought cost us the game, was a slight, but maybe understandable, lack of composure at times. (e.g. Stuart Donlan and Steve Maden getting their wires crossed with a walk-over beckoning)

It would have been great to win, but the side proved so many good things about themselves and another cup game (or more!) may have proved a very big distraction, from more important objectives.

Gouldens try was good, the ball was knocked forward by a cats hand the video shows it clearly - well the DVD does - and the ref was only feet away.

Fair enough Fred - I was just going from what my (slightly less than 20/20) eyes saw.

Still don't think he cost us the game - we did create enough chances/half chances to win it. (deservedly IMO)

Alan, there was only 6 points in it, they were awarded a try (converted) wherby evidence suggests it was dubious to say the least. I cannot see how this potentially did not cost us a chance of a golden point game unless there were other decisions which were incorrect leading to our points or incorrect in chalking of any of their scores.

I take your point about the times when we could have been a little more clinical but there were times when they could have been more linical and scored, but on both accounts neither team scored.

Finally getting round to watching the game again and Catalans' first try in the second half was never grounded in the memory of man. Scandal.

Having watched the game again, the bounced try was exactly that a bounce.Some of Childs calls were pure guess work IMO.

Anyone else notice how long McGilvray was held back for after dropping the intercept in the lead up to their last try? Still none the wiser as to how the ball went flying forward when Blanch was tackled.

TBH the less said about the att the better but i did have a laugh when they annouced it.

At the time, it appeared that Blanch's inside pass hit a Leigh player and bounced towards our line. A Leigh player (Govin?) dived on the ball, but only succeeeded in knocking it even further towards our line, and Henderson scored. I thought that was a legitimate, if lucky, try. I believe Fred has already confirmed that he thought it was a 'good' try, too.

I dont think thats a bad crowd considering theres no complimentary tickets for the cup games and no season ticket holders can get in apart from SL ones, so like i say no season ticket holders got in for free, so not bad at all.

Fax were hoping for a sell out today but i think we will sell about 2K tickets and Bradford cant give away 3K tickets to their 10K+ season ticket holders. Oh the magic of the cup.

Don't think I'm the only one who was a little surprised at how low the announced crowd was as I can't think of any occasions where either stand has seemed busier (my rule of thumb is how far people spread out in the West, and it was busy right up to the try line at the North end).
