| Quote ="SRW1996"Charlie doesn't always know
Nowhere near mate, indeed by time players bonuses and other costs are taken out not really a big financial reward for winning the play offs but don't get me wrong we won't refuse it
The target and focus was always to do what I now personally believe we've done and win the division to put ourselves in the best possible position with the highest level of funding available next season to subsequently move forward with our long term planing. With that in mind clearly this year our "Business End" has been the week to week rounds, however the winning culture and mentality within the club means Paul his staff and and our boys will indeed want to put the Cherry on the cake I'm sure of that and they go into what would normally be the business end under absolutely no pressure and that surely makes us a very dangerous proposition.
We will as always stick to the club philosophy when it comes to playing matters and under promise and over achieve.
Looking forward to the final two home games particularly the Worky game which will be a fantastic occasion for the whole town of Leigh and we will have all four sides if the stadium open and want to fill it so look out for the fantastic offers!!!'"
Others keep talking about us receiving the League Leaders shield as soon as we have managed to win it which we must be considered favourites for which looks like it ould be when we play Fev. I think the Worky game is the ideal game for it.Last league game of the season at home, combined with all the plans for the past players and heritage celebrations. This would really make it special occasion and help fulfil the dream of filling the stadium. It should be our party, for our past and present players and supporters and a real occasion. LeytherForever knows!

| Quote ="Dick Jones"The only bit I disagree on is this last bit,
Our own coach played in the best side since 81/2 , the team that won the place in super league Paul ,Tulrley a nd Tommy God what a team !!!!!!'"
Can't disagree they were three great individuals in there time but in the case of Paul and Tommy were well past their SL best and on the way down and sadly Neil never got chance to prove himself at the highest level so we will never really truly know how good he was.
That team did what it should have and needed to do that year in a league with no real competition bar Whitehaven who were always second best to us in terms of finance unlike the two previous years when Huddersfield and then Salford all saw us off with full time squads and we fell short. It was on a plate and we took it!!!
This team has not only ran away with arguably the most crucial and competitive second tier comp ever but has a very young average age with players with SL futures in front of the them coached by a very young and highly rated coaching team working for a forward thinking board and it's clearly just the start of things to come for this group of guys.
As great an achievement it was in 2004 I doubt that side could have gone to Headlingley and performed the way this team did nor could you say the bulk of that side had big futures ahead of them like you can with the likes of Brierley, Kay, Spencer, Armstrong etc etc.
Opinions are what makes debate though and we all have them but the statistics state this is the best a Leigh team since 85 championship winning side so who am I to argue?

The big money that is constantly referred to is not prize money it's increased central funding for next season.
Finishing top this season means we will have the higher levels of central funding next season from the RFL. It's not however a prize or a lump sum it's spread over the course of next year as is the current central funding which is currently a fraction of what it will be hence the importance of finishing top two this year.
It's important to note that the two teams dropping down Bradford and London will have significantly higher levels of funding than the top two from this seasons Championship that's why the challenge for us is to increase crowds and other revenue streams to put us on an even keel and give us a chance to push on in the middle eight and hopefully the play offs for SL over the next season or two.
Cheers
Andy

| So if we were to win the league we get £25,000 and then if we win the grand final another £20000 and £500000 central funding if I,m correct, split over the season.

Isn't it for finishing 13/14 meaning that next season even if we don't get promoted but finish 5th/6th in the SL Qualifier Group we get that extra money? What happens if you finish 5th but win the promotion play off game? Do you get Super League money or top Championship money?

| Next season we have to finish in the top 4 to get in the middle 8 league.
After 7 games if we finish in the top two we are promoted.
For me I would expect the top 4 Championship league to be Leigh Fev Fax and Bradford although not sure of the order.
Superleague clubs in middle 8 league Wakefield Hull KR Hull FC and Widnes imo so we should get some decent attendances now that (thank God) licenscing has been dustbinned.
Won't be easy but at least there now is a proper route to the top league for every club.

| I am sure there has been other stuff published since those above and it has been defined further. It doesn't mention how the 4 clubs are promoted to SL from the middle eight for example but I thought it was top 3 and then a 4th v 5th place play off. So even if the 4 clubs coming down finish 1st to 4th at least one champ club will have a one off shot at promotion.

Pleased to see it is not going to be a 1 season effort for next year, IMO next season is a massive step up for us, and not convinced we will be in a position to challenge the SL four that we get put up against. A full time experience and a bit more added quality for the season after may see us push to the next level and put up a challenge
