Why is is taking so long for Brierley's situation to be sorted.....is it an Auction ?!?! Either he can leave 'on a free' or he can't.

He is technically still under contract, so it is likely if he has gone to the Giants then we should have got some cash for him. Even if its a tenner its better than the nothing we would have got if he had left on April 1st. Who knows what is going on but I reckon he has gone. He can't leave on a free. Just like he couldn't simply walk out after 4 weeks despite what he has said. Leigh would challenge him on it as the club has repeatedly stated it is unenforcable. It would have dragged on for months.

Whoever is right or wrong he would have been going nowhere until it was resolved. He would have been rotting in the stands and we would have been paying him good money to do so.

If we can get rid of him now and get a decent bit of money too then it is win-win as far as I am concerned.

He has scored lots of tries and given us some great memories but his recent behaviour and his actions surrounding his exit has soured a lot of that for me to the point where I will be glad to be rid of him.

I have just had it confirmed, by my usual 100 percent correct gossip, that Brierley has indeed signed for the Giants. The earlier reports were slightly inaccurate since it is the Giants in New York rather than Huddersfield that have obtained his services. He will be playing Quarter Wide Tight End Punter.

The RFL have form with allowing the registration to transfer and then letting the clubs & player argue in court about it. He wouldn't be sat in the stands, although a messy court case is in no-ones best interests and a reasonable fee saves everyones dirty laundry being aired in court. And Hudds get him before April 1st.

Yeah.I would presume the RFL have stepped in and allowed the transfer with conditions, in order to not bring the game into disrepute.

Its got nothing to do with the RFL in allowing the transfer. If both clubs agree, it happens. There has been no illegal approach by Huddersfield as their previous 2 approaches went through the club, this final one I suspect has also gone through the club. The only thing the RFL need to do is carry out the player registration process and ensure the transfer documentation meets the RFL byelaws. If he has signed for someone that could be true. If Derek has terminated his contract that could be true. If however his notice is valid then April the 1st would be that day. If it isn't he is still contracted to Leigh.
