| Reading that makes me feel like i came out lucky.
My jaw was just a straight forward break on one side so didnt need wiring.
The cheekbone was the problem with several breaks that needed 2 metal plates to put it back together.
The goods news is the drugs they gave me are working great. Only thing is its taking forever to type

| Good luck on the recovery!
When are all the internationals played because if you're finishing now and not playing internationals until november your players will be awfully rusty! If the usarl is coming into season a few of your younger guys should try and get involved in that league, spend a few months in the states. Match practice and preparation is so important!
When are the WCQ? With US in a mess you could be looking at an upset there and what a boost for the country that would be, lining up against players who are stars in their nation

| Dico
You make a good point about keeping things going from the end of the regular season to the internationals and we are looking into that. However, many of the players originate from Union so they will be retaining some level of match fitness. We will just have to re-teach them the rules of league! The first international is the end of July against Jamaica.
I think the World Cup Qualifiers are in October. I am ready to be corrected but I believe the International Board has not sanctioned Canada's involvement in this years World Cup, on some technicality or other. I would hope, with the strides we are making, that this decision would be reconsidered, for the good of the game. It would be a huge boost for RL in Canada to play even a small piece in that event.
As it stands, Jamaica, US and South Africa will be battling for that finals berth. Currently we are focusing on "friendly" internationals with these teams. I think Scotland and Wales are currently a bit too far ahead in terms of development for us to be competitive, but thats certainly something to aim for.

Hi Dico thanks for the good wishes - Here are the confirmed Internationals for this year
Canada v Jamaica Sunday July 31st, 2011 Toronto
USA v Canada Saturday August 27th, 2011 Philadelphia
Canada v USA Sunday September 18th, 2011 Toronto
Canada v South Africa Sunday October 9th, 2011 Toronto
Unconfirmed fixtures
Wales v Canada
Scotland v Canada
Canada is currently classed as an observer nation under the watchful eye of the Rugby League European Federation (RLEF)
In order to compete in RLWC qualifiers, Canada must be an Affiliate Member of either the RLIF or RLEF so they are working closely with the RLEF to become an Affiliate Member in 2011
The hope then is that Canada will be in a strong position to qualify for the 2017 World Cup
Here is a link to the RELF website
www.rlef.eu.com/canada/introduction
I believe the World Cup qualifiers are around Oct/Nov
You are right in saying the 2 games against America could be very interesting with an already intense rivalry. Bring it on!

| Unless its a financial reason I fail to see why they wont give you full member status immediately. With all due respects, even if it goes t!ts up, what have they lost? International credibility? I dont know. For me, I dont know why they wouldnt allow you into the qualifiers to see just how far you go

| I think I'm right in saying that to gain full Affiliate Membership a Country must have to tick the correct boxes, including in this is a domestic league consisting of at least 4 teams, which is now in place.
Last year however there was only 2 teams playing rugby league and Canada were considered to have not been an observer nation for a long enough period of time.
I'm sure someone may be able to explain this a lot better than me but this is my understanding of the situation.
Anyway the plan is to get a good strong domestic league and regular internationals so Canada will be ready for the step up.

I think it stems from the Georgians at the last WCQ. They basically had no domestic league and their side were all union players. They played a couple of WCQs and then were kicked out (I think but I'm not certain). The RLIF then set some rules up so that it wasn't possible for a nation that hadn't shown any commitment to RL to enter the WCQ. I don't have a problem with the rules. They at least make sure there's some sort of development being done on the domestic front. Incidentally since the split I don't believe the FIRL (Italy) can claim to have a four team domestic league yet are still playing in the WCQ.

| I can see both sides of it. Clearly Canada has a lot more expats originating from Aus/NZ/UK than many other places (like Georgia) so it is able to take root and play at a higher standard from day 1 (although not all would qualify to play for Canada). On the other hand, we have really only just started in the grand scheme of things and the timing of the World Cup is just a bit too soon for us. If we can get some regular internationals and continue to develop the club side of things then I think that is the main thing.
