Hello from a Brit in Limoux, Reading these posts it's clear that there's a lot of uncertainty about travel and access to Limoux. When we played Halifax and Wigan here I felt it was a pity that most fans didn't stay around town to celebrate (or not). The problem is lack of accomodation and difficult public transport. I was wondering whether there would be enough people interested in staying on in Limoux after the game in one of the local bars? If so, perhaps we could arrange a bus to take folk back to Carcassonne later in the evening?

That sounds like a good idea no idea of numbers though of how many are coming?
how many would you need to make this worthwhile??

The other is in the town centre and the train takes 3 mins to get from the ground to the main station. The "train" at 13:02 is I think a bus, the 12:34 IS a train. Google Chrome and Firefox will translate the whole page in to English. Google maps shows you the ground and the clubhouse, if you use stree view you can do a virtual walk from Lim-Flassian station past the ground.

Sounds spot on to me. In fact it was certainly my intention to stick around Limoux as long as possible after the game rather than dashing back to Carcassonne. Will be getting there as early as possible on the Saturday as well.

OK. I'm researching costs of local private bus hire firms and availability and I'll post something again this evening.

OK folks. I have a local coach firm who are willing to provide coaches. Each coach takes 50 people. They are suggesting two departure times from Limoux to Carcassonne (stopping at three strategic points in Carcassonne to leave people close to their chosen hotels). Suggested departures are midnight and 1.30am. (The bars in Limoux close at 2am on Saturday).
We need therefore a minimum of 30 people per bus at 10€ each to make it cost effective.
There are about a dozen café/bars in Limoux, with six of those on the main square. The main square is walking distance from the match venue. I've spoken to several bar owners and they're into the idea of you guys staying on after the game and making you welcome.. There are also a lot of restaurants within walking distance.
We need to work out how I can collect the cash to pay the coach company. Either someone your end could organise collecting 10€ per person in advance or I could my Paypal account perhaps. I would hate to have to find myself paying for the buses if no one turns up!
Any comments?

Seems a good idea to me to stay in Limoux after the match and then get a coach back to Carcassonne.

I am up for it and if every other Leyther who is interested and who is going will pm their agreement or otherwise we will be able to see if it is viable. Any coach money I could collect before the game at a named watering hole in Limoux before the match..

My mate rang Sunday night to say it was booked up so had booked us in somewhere else in Carcassonne.

Maybe they didn't like the sound of his voice.

I should have done it with me being an expert in Gallic charm. Mais c'est la vie n'est pas ?

Oh regarding organisation most who will be in Limoux will probably be in Toulouse so we could sort it in the Melting Pot after the game maybe.
